My favourite satin to work with is the Matte Satin (Peau de Soie) family. Usually has a crisp drape and a subtle sheen to the finish if anyone is looking.

Yesss I love matte satin! I have only worked with it in corsets but I plan to use it for some more historical gowns in the future!

Love this! I was wondering if you had to adjust your measurements for the bodice to take into account the corset? Or does the extra layer of fabric from the corset not affect the measurements ? Also how much fabric did you use for the whole project? Thank you

My bodice pattern is made with the measurements of my corset already on since a corset is necessary to support the weight of the skirts without harming my body. For just the silver fabric, I belive I got 12 yards, and I got 3 yards each of the white satin, white sequin and white organza. Hope that helps!

I do wear my custom tightlacing corset underneath the gown however I usually don't lace it super tight since I'm quite active when performing in the gown so I make it with the lightly laced measurements. It's more support and protection that waist reduction when I wear it if that makes sense

Did you make it the exact measurements of your body with your corset on or did you make it bigger than that to allow for room in between layers? Sorry for all the questions I’ve never made a dress with a corset undergarment !

@@ln8784 no worries, ask all the questions you need! A corset usually doesn't add more than like an inch. So for instance my natural waist is 28-30 depending on bloat, I'm laced down to about a 26 in the corset and my bodice pattern is 27 fully closed. I also pattern the bust to be fuller than my own cause I'm very small chested and 1 want the silhouette to balance out, 2 for other girls in the companies I perform for to be able to wear the costumes.
