Oh ya 🤘🏻🤘🏻🎸🎸 I saw Cinderella open for David Lee Roth in 1986 on his Eat Em and Smile tour. They really kicked ass. You're doing great for only playing for less than a year. I’m 53 and been playing guitar since Jr. High and never had a band or really jammed with people. Recently I’ve been obsessed with the idea of forming a cover band and buying a van, PA system, generator, lights, and going around playing everywhere we can. Only do it if you really love it. I played guitar for over 30 years with 15 different local classic rock cover bands. Weekend warriors, self booking (no manager/agent) …made $50-$200 per gig (enough for gas/food/guitar strings). Our bands rarely ventured far (under 100 miles) and played small venues (75-250 capacity). Advice: Invest minimally in lights. 1. Not always room onstage 2. Complicates setup, more time in breakdowns, too. 3. Nobody feels responsible for setting them up or breaking them down (not personal equipment). 4. Lights are only for stage, not rehearsals or recordings 😊 maybe show off for friends? One more thing, play the most popular songs you can think of. Songs that you hate because you’ve heard it so many times, is exactly what drunk people love to sing along with. Margaritaville, I Love Rock & Roll, Rock & Roll All Night, even Lewie Luwie or Long Cool Woman. Complex musical numbers are wasted in clubs/parties where people just want to dance…that’s why D.J.s are so popular and good bands are becoming harder to find. Why spend $400-$600 on a band? A DJ will do a show for $250-$300.

hell yes!!!! great job!! you brought me back to high school. i wore that cassette out twice! 2 things though: 1) if you raise the bass up just a smidge, maybe an inch or two, it'll give you a lot more power with your downstroke picking. 2) you need to be swinging that hair around and make metal faces at the camera. 😉 OR you could just ignore me and keep on having fun and doing your thing! i really enjoyed this vid. keep up the great work!

I saw a couple of the other bass pieces, and this sounds like you're getting confident. I saw where others gave you advice, and most of it is sound. My advice is to spend more time playing and just let loose trusting yourself. Take Cliff Burton as an example of a good finger picking style and let yourself fly. There is a book to look up. It comes in editions for both guitar and bass. It's called "Scales and modes, in the beginning." Like any music teacher, I'd say it's good to memorize that book. You'll be able to play along with anything on the radio. Given a little time, playing music should feel as natural as loving one of your favorite groupies. 😉

How important is the bass? Let the guitarist hit the wrong chord, drummer miss a tom, or singer forget the words…nobody will really be thrown. But let the bassist play the wrong notes and the whole song goes down. Rock on 🤘🏽 and check out MISA from Band Maid for inspiration
