He is one of my favorite characters. Unfortunately his fate was sealed the minute he became aware of Ruyi's existence. He would have been better off by staying at the cold palace or later at the Mulan grounds. All the other servants knew there was nothing between him and Ruyi. But the vicious Yawan was determined to destroy both Yunche and Ruyi because Yunche cared for Ruyi more than her after she betrayed him. Of course Yawan's scheming would have been useless if the emperor had just continued to trust and love Ruyi.
