Actually by doing this, the emperor actually freed her. Back then they believed in reincarnation, so if he buried her the way she should have been, then in her next life she would be by his side again. She wanted to be free in her life but couldn't, so he freed her in her next life. So in her next life she would be free beyond the walls of the palace and can have the love and life she deserves. He loved her so much that instead of being with her in the next life, he let her go.

The yanxi palace drama is more historical accurate. The Ula Nara empress was not favored until she became a Step Empress. She was actually a weak empress and cut her hair to protest Noble Consort Ling being promoted Imperial Noble Consort. Which is an insult while The Empress is alive

I know it’s not really non-fictional, but I need to give my standing ovations to all the actors and actresses in this show. They grabbed the essence of every character and lured all of audience into that fictional world. What really happened at the time of the show is truly mysterious thing to me, however I feel like I accompany the whole life journey with Ruyi. I assume loving someone is the last thing you should do if you want to live a happy life in the palace.
I love how Empress Ruyi treated Rongpei in this scene. She didn't see Rongpei as a servant. She viewed her as a friend and confidante. They talked of all the people who had passed and fondly remembered them. talking of how sad it was that things could have been so different and what it possibly could have been if all had not passed away wrongly at such young ages. How possibly the empower could have been there if things had been different. a sense of longing, sadness, and wistfulness for what might have been. Ruyi mostl of all realises that it doesn't pay to miss the empower as he has not been the person she originally fell in love with for so many years. I love how Rongpei is so faithful to her mistress whom I believe she also considers a friend instead of master. She follows her in death I think to continue serving her mistress in the afterlife. I love to imagine the Ruyi and Rongpei reincarnate as equals. maybe even as loving sisters forever together. As far as the empower is concerned, I believe he deserved to feel alone for the rest of his life. He did everything to damage his relationship with Ruyi and constantly caused her to be downtrodden and ridiculed. He threw her love and devotion away at every turn. Finally he realized too late just what he lost. A little bit too late. I am glad he died miserable late in life. As for the cutting of his hair at the end just before he died I would like to believe he was finally setting her spirit free. And the plum finally blossoming after being barren for so many years I believe symbolizes Ruyi finally being completely free never to meet the empower again.

@timmyangeltlc48882 жыл бұрын
@@C-Dramaclips I don't think she is pitiful. Ruyi has had an inner strength that most people could never imagine themselves having. Yes we can get stronger with each hardship we go through but that gained strength depends on what type of support we have from family and friends. Throughout the entire series Ruyi was abandoned by so many including adopted first son. It is only after the truth came out so many times that she was mistreated or framed for something or other that people would reluctantly apologize and being the soft, gentle, and loving person she is, Ruyiwould take them back. Finally towards the end Ruyi just didn't care to even see anyone because she was just too tired of fighting a losing battle and defending herself against so many false accusations. As far as Wei yanwan is concerned Ruyi finally had had enough and decided to let her hang herself on a very short rope while reminding the emporer of all the people yanwan had directly or indirectly killed through her scheming. The only ones who were completely loyal to Ruyi in my opinion were Souxin, Rongpei, Li Yu, Hailan, Li Yunche, Sanboa, and physician Jiang Yubin (forgive my spelling mistake). The subtle distancing we saw also in my opinion mirror her illness. At first it was minimal but as time went on it became more and more noticeable.

She already give up her love, she finally accept the fact that her childhood sweetheart were long gone. That's why ruyi choose to hide her lethal sickness until the end. For her, she didn't trust the emperor anymore. As for the emperor, i think he's feel betrayed because ruyi left him behind. I love this, we always hear of stories of people who can feel the ending of their lives, a lot of them suddenly started changing habits, doing things they would not normally do, and a lot of them start to remember those who have passed away. We can clearly see this happening in the story, she asked Ringpei to sit and reminisce on those that have passed - even the the "bad" ones. I totally agreed this can only be fully realized if you're at peace with yourself and your eventual passing.

I honestly feel like she died of sorrow and maltreatment (so many things could have gone unrecorded during the times she was ignored and disrespected by the emperor). If I remember correctly, she died just a year after she was kicked out of her rightful power in the harem. It really didn't take long. One drama took off after another. She was demoted, kicked out, and all her privileges were removed in a short span of time. I doubt she felt at peace with all the disrespect. It didn't even take what seemed like ages in this drama for each tragedy in her life to actually happen.

The ending of this story is quite revealing of how the emperor saw the error of his ways, but being the ruler, he cannot just change. He defined the simplicity of life that Ruyi wanted in the midst of power and kingdom. Through it all, she was challenged and challenged. She had to face all those, not necessarily with the emperor's support and she had to prove herself over and over again which is exhausting. What she felt saddest the most was the unnecessary loss of so many lives because of conflict with the concubines with their hidden agenda. Towards the end of her life, she realized that no matter how much she loves the emperor, it can only go so far and some things will never change. The emperor only understood her message to be free in the end, when he read the letter to his son. He gave it to her; however, no matter that she is referred to as a clanswoman, buried without a titlethose who still lived will never forget their Empress in their hearts.
@Skyblaze77 Жыл бұрын
Yup, and it's also meaningful that she namedrops so many concubines, including those ostensibly considered "villains" like Consort Jia and Consort Ling. By mentioning the "villains" in the same context as the "victims", Ruyi realises (and the show implicitly asserts) that for all the evil things that some of those people did, in the end all of them to a greater or lesser extent were driven by and victimised by this system (and the King and other such powerful men). It doesn't make what Consort Jia or Consort Ling (or even Emperor) did forgivable, but in the end they were all ultimately torn down by the system they were born into.

Ruyi was an extraordinary woman. Despite the trials and tribulations she faced, she maintained her dignity. She treated everyone with respect and genuinely loved the emperor. However, the emperor was a fool. He continually sacrificed Ruyi for his own selfish desires. Even though the empress dowager changed her mindset of Ruyi in the end, she was also directly responsible for many of Ruyi's trouble. She was just as selfish as the emperor. Only death could bring Ruyi peace, and I am glad that she died at peace within herself. Ruyi was selfless. So selfless, that even her last words to her son were words of wisdom and peace. Even the last conversation she had with rongpei showed how much she valued and loved rongpei, here dear friend.

Empress Dowager told her these things before coronation, a wise old lady, but Rui didn't listen.

This episode and the death of Emperor episode really make me cry, especially when the Emperor opens the box and and places his hair strands with those strands of Ruyi's hair.💔

Zhou Xun is the same age as the Ruyi when she passed away. This scene hits different when you realize that.

If I were nobility, a prince or princess, I would want to leave the palace as quickly as possible when I was old enough to get married. A title, a home away and it was great. Even if it was another position, such as daughter or son of a duke, marquis, etc. She would try to have as little contact with the palace as possible. Nothing could be more important than protecting your own mental health and life.

Both of Ruyi's servants were loyal to her and loved her and she did them. Ruyi made sure that Suxion who wanted to stay with Ruyi even though she could due to her leg was taken care of when she let her marry Physician that was always taking care of Ruyi. Rong Pei is just one super Bad A$$ who isn't afraid to hit another in defense of her mistress. She always made sure that Ruyi was taken care off no matter what and even in death she followed her mistress which in real life doesn't have very much so that shows the bond these 2 had.
