Another question: does the specular move with the light in this texture or is it also baked into the texture psd file? Like if we moved the camera around, is there just plain blue behind the bird with no specular or would there just be the same image in the render? That's confusing me lol.

Is there any way to import animated rigged characters from any other app to apply these amazing shaders to? I tried alembic before but I probably did something wrong because I couldn't apply materials to the imported alembic file. I have a bad feeling it's not possible, and you have to rig your characters in c4d to use these shaders. That sucks (not dissing c4d, but I've done some rigging in Maya, and I'm certainly no professional rigger, but I enjoyed the fact that Maya has sooooo much better support and rigging tools, not to mention scripts). 3d software is so frustrating sometimes, especially if you want them to play with each other.

Nvm-- it looks like a lot of presets were purged from previous versions of c4d

I found that as well, or they were moved around. There should be a Sketch folder with some of those remaining assets in there.

My interactive render region always flushes before recalculation - is there a way to change that? I would like to see - exactly like in this video - the new iteration render on top of the one before.
@eyedesyn6 жыл бұрын
If you move around in the viewport, it'll refresh like that, but if you just change a parameter it'll render right on top of the old render, it's just the nature of how IRR works
@phm68346 жыл бұрын
did i understand correct that it should render on top when changing a paramenter? mine doesnt. As soon as changing any parameter, it gives me a black imagine in the irr and then renders the buckets.

What I am a little annoyed by is that you guys have all these wonderful tutorials, but you never explain how to achieve such a bird BEFORE you applied the textures. How to render it correctly, how to use lights, etc etc. You never explain it. This is a recurring theme on all your sketch and toon tutorials. Or maybe I'm blind or something. Lighting is a bitch to work with when you're using sketch and toon, so some help would be appreciated. Or just send me your project file, so I can look at it myself.
@eyedesyn8 жыл бұрын
The tutorial is all about the texturing so covering the modeling wouldn't be on-topic, and this is the way for most of my tutorials! There are many many many tutorials on lighting on GSG that you can learn very useful techinques for that. If I covered every single topic in every single tutorial each tutorial would be 3 hours long! :) And as for sketch and toon, I always cover lighting because it's typically one single Infinite light. And in this specific tutorial, there is no lighting involved, it's all in the art shader setup. All the knowledge you seek is already out there! :)
