love the octane AND redshift vids. I personally use octane for personal projects and redshift for work, so these are a win/win for rme. Thanks!

Thanks a ton! While I don't have a ton of use for procedural Cheetos I still love to see the process behind creating specific procedural textures. Keep the Redshift tutorials coming! Gotta send this to my cousin who designs for lay's!

Get absolutely f*cked. I had to do CGI Cheeto's a couple months back and this would've saved me a lot of heartache haha. They didn't look quite as good as yours, but it was a client job so I had 2 days rather than 2 weeks to develop (and animate) the look. You killed it.

Haha thanks Dane! I'm sure yours looked awesome, it always looks better when someone else does it, it's part of the magic.

Haha trust me, not that smooth on my computer either, I just speed a lot of parts. But some complex material just take time to load.

Thank you man btw, Which do you prefer Octane or Redshift, and What is your main renderer? 🤔
@NewPlastic
@NewPlastic Жыл бұрын
First, youre welcome man! As for your question, I probably prefer Octane. Takes less effort to get a really good a light/texture look, renders way faster, and has a much MUCH more robust node system. That's absolutely, 100% my main engine. But RS has a lot of potential for future developments, since it's owned by Maxon, and because of that it's also a standard in a lot of studios. So it's important to, IMO, to know how to handle both.

since you used both octane and redshift, What’s your take on the difference and when to use what?
@NewPlastic
@NewPlastic Жыл бұрын
Hmm, I dunno yet. Overall I think Octane wins on almost every aspect. But that probably also has to do with the fact that I'm much more familiar with OCtane. Sometimes RS will surprise me with good results, so I'm optimistic about it but so far Octane is much more sophisticated with a much more robust node system, it's WAY faster to render, and usually looks better, especially with displacement stuff. The only thing is that it's less stable so I'm getting more crashes with OCtane but I just save all the time and have automatic file backups so it's not a huge deal.

Not unless you have to. I just felt like I wanted to explore more engines and see what else is out there. They all have their pros and cons, but Octane is a winner in my book.
