I remember in 1966 seeing David Warner come way down stage and look out at the audience and say very softly and gently - ' The time is out of joint. O cursed spite - that ever I was born - to set it right '. And it broke your heart and it has stayed in my mind for fifty three years. No revolvers in those days - with Hamlet ridiculously shooting Polonius - what about the noise? For goodness sake?

It’s a contemporary take on Hamlet. Not every production is going to look the same. I, for one, absolutely adore this interpretation of one of the greatest tragedies
