Thanks for uploading this, cause it's very useful. There's not enough (if any) videos on the web that illustrate this process, common in almost every film shooting. You also did a great job showing it in a very clear way. I wish i would've had Grip classes like this on my film school here in Chile. Peace!

Nice video. I like to use opposing and overlapping wedges. Sliding them toward each other lifts squarely and pulling away drops squarely.

You have explained it so well and I really enjoyed watching you do the good work. I hoped to see more quality content from you. Why have you stopped uploading?

As a SteadiCam owner/operator I think this video says it all. These guys work hard so my hats off to them. However I could have been ready to shoot and shot the scene in a fraction of the time. Not to mention the weight of a dolly and the SteadiCam handles long shots much smoother and with much more dexterity...allowing for a more creative shot. 40yrs as an operator...I'm still thanking Garret Brown. But let there be thanks to the hard working crew that has the skill to setup such systems and to these people who did an amazing video demo...first one I've seen.

IAWFilmWorks yes you could have been ready to shoot in half the time if you have your steadicam already built and balanced. However that wouldn’t always be the case and you should know as well as anyone that certain shots require certain set ups and it’s all down to what the director or DOP want. If they want more creative freedom over the shot then yes the steadicam works but if they are looking for a controlled, one directional movement then the dolly is the one to use. Also bear in mind not every production can afford to hire a steadicam or a steadicam operator for that matter so sometimes track and Dolly can be a better option in this sense.

If the end of a piece of track does get burred it’s crowned what is the best way to repair it or deal with it on the day?

would be even better if he took of advantage of the 3 sizes of the full apple box and use less dunnage
