Writer, actor and producer Nick Giannopoulos joins Cinema Australia's Matthew Eeles to discuss the latest film in his wildly-popular Wog Boys franchise, Wog Boys Forever.
In 2000 The Wog Boy broke box office records and became one of the highest grossing Australian films of all time. Ten years later in 2010 the wog boys returned in the international smash hit Wog Boy 2: The Kings Of Mykonos.
The two Wog Boy films combined have grossed over *$25 million (*2022 CPI adjusted) at the Australian Box Office. And now in 2022 one of the most successful Aussie comedy franchises of all time is back for a third spin around the block with Wog Boys Forever.. Because Wog goes around, Comes around!
The once infamous Steve 'The Wog Boy’ Karamitsis (Nick Giannopoulos) is now in his midlife years, still single and working as a taxi driver. His sad and lonely life continues to pass him by until one day an old flame unexpectedly jumps into his cab. He quickly realises ex- girlfriend Cleo (Sarah Roberts), might be the one that got away all those years ago.
Steve attempts to win her back but Cleo’s 18 yo son Michael (Costa D’Angelo) thinks he's a has-been loser, not to mention she already has a boyfriend, the notorious nightclub owner Goldi (Anthony J Sharpe).
Despite these setbacks, Steve is still determined to win her over. But just when he thought life couldn’t get more complicated, Brianna Beagle-Thorpe, the Minister for Immigration (Annabel Marshall-Roth), hatches out a plan with her brother Clayton (Liam Seymour) to exact their revenge on Steve for destroying their late mother - Raelene’s political career, 20 years earlier.
With the help of his long-time buddy Frank (Vince Colosimo) and eccentric Italian neighbours Vince, Guiseppina and Pino (Sooshi Mango), Steve will once again be forced to fight the corrupt forces of evil and use all his wogboy street smarts to try and outwit a very powerful and ambitious woman, who will stop at nothing to destroy him and everyone he cares about.
The time has come once again for Steve to show the whole world that “Where there’s a wog, there’s always a way”.
