He got hostile with them and began targeting them because they caused problems in the peace between the ballas and the families by kidnapping D and then killing him. If for example, Stretch showed up in Lamar Down and tried to kill Lamar, missed him/shot him in the arm, and then managed to escape, that would be attempted murder. But having a plan and intention doesn't count as an attempted murder
