Fantastic movie that'll stick with me for years to come. I actually think I enjoyed Tokyo Sonata more than Cure. I saw Cure way before Tokyo Sonata, but I immediately identified how effective & similar the sound design was in both. Modern classics. I have a more positive take on the Ryûhei returning the money. I think after experiencing near death and embarrassment for money, he returns the money because he realized that it really isn't worth it. I think that's why he returns to his family in his job suit because saving face is no longer as important to him than just being with his family. I think that's an important theme of this movie. Facing the reality of the world you live in and staying true to yourself. But, that's just my interpretation. Great video by the way. Edit: I suppose the side characters (the thief, the other salary man and the older brother) are representative of who the main cast could be. Like what happens if you continue running from the reality of the situation and never bother to do anything about it.
