Yes this music and dance came from our ancestors from Ireland & Scotland. Who else dances like that? Notice a couple of redheads in the video.

It’s much more complicated and diverse than that, have a look at the book written by Phil Jamison (1st prize in this very video), "Hoedowns, reels, and frolics : roots and branches of Southern Appalachian dance" (I’ll admit I haven’t read it yet, but the résumé is enough to get the general idea)

@@palerider55 ..I spent the winter in Oshkosh/Appleton some years ago doing insurance work after a devastating hail storm and I recall a local shopkeeper telling me if the 'summer' falls on a weekend you folks have a BBQ...Lake Winnebago is on my bucket list for Musky fishing but to date the summer hasn't fallen on a weekend and I'm too old for ice fishing..Teasing of course..beautiful area.

@@pocono49murphy96 - It does seem to be perpetual winter up here at times, but if you can catch one those weekends where it's warm, it is a beautiful state. We have Lake Superior on the north border, Lake Michigan on the east border, and the Mississippi River on our west border, and many other lakes, ponds and rivers in between. It's a sportsmen's paradise, and because it's so cold so much of the time, we don't have a massive influx of people coming here, so we kinda have it all to ourselves. The cost of living is low but the quality of life is great. We love it.

@@palerider55 I did some flood damage assessments in the Prairie Du Chien area after one of the Miss. river floods back in the late 90's...It was in the spring and the weather was beautiful. I was kidding about the snow shoes of course but owing to the abundant supply of Wisconsin butter and cheese products not too many people I met were in good enough shape to go 'clogging' or 'flat footin' on friday nights...After a month of working there my cholesterol was so high I had turned from a liquid to a solid. Again, all in jest..

I loved the music and the dancing! And I am intrigued by the treatment of the wall behind the dancers; it is beautiful and has such visual textural appeal. I'd love to know what technique was used to create the wall.

Joan Deschamps hello, I'm not 100%, though it looks like wall art made by sculpting plaster on the wall. Look it up; I've never seen such a large example. I admire practically all art, and only recently found this while surfing KZbin videos. Anyway, hope this helps and answers your question. Enjoy, Peace.
