Missed the sin where the wardrobe jumps from the second floor of the castle and lands on a villager, brutally killing him instantly in a G rated movie.

Oh please. Atlantis the Lost Empire had a would-be axe murderer, one successful genocide, one attempted genocide, a convicted felon out of prison, one guy smacking another on the ass with a towel, people getting trapped by their own crew in a downed submarine and left to die, implied dick and balls nudity, encouragement of suicide, food that creates mushroom clouds, and a dick for a villain who makes Gaston seem friendly. And all that shit was only rated PG.
@derossetmyers476 жыл бұрын
It wouldn't be rated G if it was first released today. It's easily more disturbing than Frozen.
@OneLordeAnimeClips6 жыл бұрын
That's because people today would probably find a way to equate this with politics, religion, gender, or basically any other issue in present day society that has nothing to do with an animated Wardrobe/Dresser crushing a random character in a G rated Disney movie.

Something else to note about the mob scene: in spite of the fact that no one apparently knew the beast existed for at least ten years (which is weird enough as it is), Gaston convinces them in seconds that the beast they have never seen or even heard of is going to come and kill them and their children. Oh, I always thought the fact that it was snowing showed the passage of time. Like, when belle first gets to the castle she was wearing a summer dress and cloak, and earlier that day she was in a feild during what looks like summer. Halfway through the movie winter sets in, and then even toward the end you can see that the snow is gone. I think Belle and the Beast actually spent the most time together than any other Disney couple before declaring love for each other.

A quick (and possibly unreliable) Googling tells me that 60 eggs is apparently 3,790 Calories. Bodybuilders will often go around the 7,000+ Range on their daily calorie intake, and Gaston certainly looks like a body builder. So he's using the eggs as a very protein heavy way to bulk up his calorie intake to fuel those massive muscles he's got going.

That's one thing that's been consistently bothering me for the last few years - NOBODY in all of France was like "Hey, we haven't heard from the prince or any of his servants in 10 years. Someone should just go check up on that"?? Seems like the king especially would want to have someone go see what was wrong. Even if Prince Beast isn't the dauphin, SOMEBODY should surely be concerned that they haven't heard anything from him in a while. And some messenger from some other nobility should definitely have visited his castle at some point. In the 10 years, SOMEONE should've noticed something was up and done something about it.
@TheVanishing877 жыл бұрын
This rather glaring plot hole has always bothered me as well. Same as Belle's horse both somehow knowing where Maurice went and still waiting patiently outside for Belle the entire time she is there. It's ridiculous and unrealistic! Still, I cannot help, but love this movie. Wonder if the new one is any good. Also wonder if the new one fixed these issues. I know it's a lot to hope for, but eh...

It’s not really Stockholm syndrome because belle doesn’t warm up to the beast until he stops treating her like an actual prisoner... the movie more closely portrays Lima syndrome where a captor starts to empathize with their captive. I always thought the enchantress meant 21st year of being a beast rather than 21 years of age.. makes more sense and that's why when the beast changed back he looked the same as prior to the curse.. but then it doesn't explain why the rose wilted so fast.. the time frame doesn't work no matter how it's looked at, I guess

I'm surprised you didn't mention the main sin: when Belle finds out her dad is sick at home, she decides to go to him and probably just watch him die there, leaving the Beast to his own devices. But we know the minions can reach her house, so why not bring Maurice back to the nice, warm castle where he can be tended round the clock by a full staff of animated objects? This would also eliminate the Gaston issue and a lot of drama, but it would make an amazing amount of sense.

The only question now is where are Chip’s actual parents. Or what if he’s actually an orphan? That would explain all of the other child teacups we see in the cupboard. You know, since this is a kids movie, you could make the argument that him being ten at the time of his curse is a message to all the kids watching not to be a selfish dick or bad things will happen to you. It's a good time to learn that. However, Disney had to go and make the animation of that incident as him as an adult, so... they kinda ruined that connection.
@Trunks1stApprentice7 жыл бұрын
Nah. It's not this movie's fault. Disney can't seem to decide on how old the Beast was when the curse hit him. The stain-glass windows make him look like a grown man, the lyric about "10 years" and the fact that the deadline is his 21st birthday implies that he was 10 or 11 at the time of the curse, and flashbacks in various books and TV series attempts show a teenaged prince being cursed. So you can't really blame the movie for that. Just Disney's animators and artists not being consistent.

Nintendo Handheld Spoiler Alert: In the 2017 version, it is revealed that his mom died when he's young. His dad abused him long enough to forge him into a messed up person, but still leave enough so he could change for Belle.

They obviously took note from this for the live action. They explained why no one wondered about the disappearances.

What is with Disney and it's death by falling fetish?
@emoimo41717 жыл бұрын
... Really? You don't understand that purpose of a death that can be done without the hero actually killing them, doesn't require you to see a dead body, and doesn't even always guarantee that they're dead, in a kid's movie?
@Thesaurus_Rex7 жыл бұрын
It allows for an understood offscreen death where the perpetrators can't be explicitly be called murderers. It's a very PG form of violent death.

Conclusion: gravity is the real hero in Disney movies.

More like 'death by gravity'!

I have two theories: 1) Disney makes primarily kids movies, so off-screen deaths are vital 2) When the villain dies from falling from a height it's usually in a they-did-it-to-themselves kind of way. Two examples I can think of right now are this movie, where Gaston falls because he takes the cowards route and tries killing Beast after the battle had already been decided; and then Tarzan where Clayton kills himself because of his desire to kill Tarzan. The two common themes that I've found in these deaths are greed. Greed for victory and the bullheadedness that goes with it

+Ruby Zeff-Gettis no i really tried to be happy for the prince, because i know i would want to be human again too, no matter how interesting i looked as a beast but i can't help thinking about that beast design instead for him

To paraphrase the immortal words of Greta Garbo: "Oh, give me back my beautiful beast!" (She famously shouted this at the premiere of the 1946 Jean Cocteau directed French adaptation of "Beauty and the Beast" but it can count here too).

@ CinemaSins > Apparently some recent research (Im guessing anthropological) has indicated that the Beauty and the Beast story could have root origins dating back 4000 years.. while not "as old as time", thats still pretty old :D

Here’s an extra sin: why does Gaston have arrows on his back when hunting birds with a gun? Sure it would be useful if he ran out of bullets, but he has no bow!

Moral dilemma maybe but probably was the only one. She seemed almost disappointed when he turned human. I'm betting Belle was interested in seeing just how much of a Beast he was, if you catch my drift, get my meaning, hint hint wink wink say no more.

I still love this movie so much, I remember seeing in theaters and they had a really awesome 'contest' where you got like a scratcher (the lotto type) and it was a magic mirror. I forget exactly what the grand prize was (I was 7 and this was 23-24 years ago), but I recall it being worth quite a bit of money. This movie, Mulan and Hercules all had funny lines that my friends and I would randomly use in non-contextual situations lol. Like "For who could ever love...a BEAST!" or "Let's get down to fighting...THE HUN!". Man I miss the 90's and being a kid back then.

To be fair, Maurice going to the tavern for help and then being crushed after being rejected is not that crazy. Reason is, rather simply, the tavern, or inn, or pub, or local bar, is where a lot of folks will go to after work, in order to unwind, and while I'd have to double check, that bar has 50+ guys, including Gaston, who is practically the town hero - if Maurice had gotten Gaston, and the others, to help him, every other physically-able-bodied man in the village would have been all but obligated to help save Belle, unless they wished to be scorned by everyone else.
