Elemental ended up being Pixar's little engine that could, opening soft with little buzz but then just cranking all summer long. Oh, and it has some sins.

Funny thing is that I heard a lot of people tend to viewed Wade and Ember as close friends more than lovers, but personally it's perfectly normal for Lovers to act more like friends because some people just want to express themselves romantically while not changing how they hang out together.

Plus I like to add that although it’s true that Wade did evaporate because he was in close proximity to Ember in the end of the movie. My guess is that because when Wade evaporated: both the hearth was blocked off cause Ember closed the entrance (so she wouldn’t get snuffed out like Wade said) and the top of the hearth was blocked off cause of the rebel which I assume cause not a lot of air so Wade wouldn’t escape if he needed to where as at Fern’s place there is a ton of open space (more than the hearth) so that wouldn’t cause a problem for him

Cloudpuff and Fireball aren't racial-slurs, they're actually the respective word for "child" in their race of people, as heard in their dialogue walking out of the stadium... Gail said she was "just a little cloudpuff, attending the games with her dad" while Ember said she's a fireball who doesn't want to let her dad down. Looking at the preceding argument, "just a bunch of overgrown cloudpuffs playing some stupid game" especially in the context of older Boomer executive vs Millenial or Gen Z... or even older generations vs Boomers when they were 20 ish young adults.. So, is it still a blatant insult? Absolutely... it's age/generation discrimination, which sadly is still rampant, even in the most mundane interactions... the whole "I'm an adult whose been around forever, dealing with real problems, which are bigger than your petty concerns." I can't tell you how many times I've been called a child, boy, or brat as an insult by an older adults... having near identical conversations... and I'm 30. But 30 is still 30 years younger than most managers, politicians, heads-of-operations. Swap Cloudpuff and Fireball for child/children, and the dialogue flows perfectly.

The one thing I noticed is how super focused the Racism was toward Fire. We saw the city has a commemorating mural depicting the three other Elements arriving to the land and being welcomed but not Fire specifically. I wonder if it's because Fire is the only element commonly associated with destruction, even though Water can be just as deadly. Plants can die by drowning. I could see "Waterlogged" being portrayed as an illness for Earth people.
@ArisePikachu25
@ArisePikachu25 9 ай бұрын
Also Earthquakes and heavy Wind/Lightning storms too. Also there was a flood in the movie. But yes it was mainly focused on Fire. Probably because it's immediately dangerous. While Earth, Air, and Water can stand near each other and not be bothered
@normalactivity7404
@normalactivity7404 8 ай бұрын
I think it's because that while water, earth, and air, can be dangerous, Fire *as a whole* is more dangerous than the 3 of them, 4 of them can be dangerous, but not equally dangerous, let just see in real life, how common do you encounter air, water, and earth (rocks) really common, how common does it hurt you? uncommon, except certain cases like natural disaster or something, but fire is obviously more dangerous. that is why fire hazard is a thing. and lot of people say "be careful around fire" but not "be careful around water, earth, and air" because it sound ridiculous.
@PeterGant-mt8hx
@PeterGant-mt8hx 4 ай бұрын
I think although fire is a more immediate danger, ALL of these "races" can be dangerous under the right circumstances. Air can become a tornado, or, in conjunction with water, a hurricane! Fire with air, a fire tornado, which IS a rare but real thing. Water does flood, and earthquakes kill many every year, none of these are perfectly safe ALL the time, but, in the perspective of this story, SHOULD be considered EQUAL, for the story's sake!

It was definitely a reach of the metaphor to use elements that can harm each other, but you can also read into the fact that each element can be dangerous on their own; water can extinguish fire and cause floods, air can blow away all the other elements, earth could absorb water or bury fire, etc. Just as a matter of perspective. The movie also tried to focus on how element city is hostile when not designed with certain elements in mind, which is why fire is way more dangerous and in danger than it needs to be in the city; it wasn’t utilized very well though in the world building though (i.e, the useless fences being only a joke, paper still being used when 2 elements shouldn’t be able to even touch it, water just spilling everywhere uninhibited)
@thegeneralgamer4921
@thegeneralgamer4921 10 ай бұрын
The thing is though fire is naturally dangerous on its own in any amount. A tiny flame or even touching something recently heated by fire can burn you, and, in terms of this world, even a tiny flame on a tree could potentially kill them. Water can only cause floods in mass quantities, and it can only really 'kill' a fire person, again, in large enough quantities and likely intentionally (still dangerous but not as dangerous and only hurts fire). Air can only blow away water or earth with a LOT of air and power, and it'd likely need a lot to blow out fire as well I didn't watch the movie, but I think the glass buildings at the end was supposed to make them 'safe' for fire people. However, if it's cold fire can still shatter it because of temperature differences. No other element can be this natural 'accidentally' destructive
@normalactivity7404

I think most of these problems stem from the fact MOST people don't try to remember that THIS IS A FICTIONAL STORY, and, if you don't factor in some suspension of disbelief, you may miss ANY positive message a story may have while focusing on why it couldn't have happened in the FIRST place!
