What I never understood was in The Santa Clause 2 it was made clear you needed a wife to remain as Santa if that's true WTF happen to the previous Santa's wife after he died? Does she disappear or something? How horrifying would that be if your husband dies you stop existing? This was one of the 2 questions I always had the other was addressing about why did no one mourn the previous Santa even a little bit. Was he a slave driver or something. The only answer i could come up with to answer both questions and to keep me from thinking about it was that the previous Santa had only gotten the job that year and on his first Christmas died. Totally explains why Santa has no wife and why no one mourns him.
@danielgehring74376 жыл бұрын
I think the elves are meant to be ageless in this continuity, so while you'd think it'd be a big deal they've dealt with this thousands of times and have learned not to get attached. Like how you don't get attached to a mouse or housefly you see because you know that soon (to you, a lifetime to them) they'll be gone. Or maybe the old Santa just refused to get a new wife and the universe decided to punish them for their transgression with death, and the elves all warned him about it dozens of times and knew it was only going to be so long before he got his comeuppance.

Yes, and consult a railroad expert, 'cuz any kids riding a tourist train are probably terrified at the thought of crossing from one car to the other, after seeing the movie. (I never heard the phrase, "Crossing over the knuckles" because at the time when you had to step from one car to another above the couplings, they were simple links and pins, and people rarely did it. After actual knuckle couplers arrived on the scene, cars were equipped with vestibules and accordion-like diaphragms, with foot plates, making it perfectly safe in any weather.) I realize it's fantasy, but lots of little kids also think if you pull the plug while they're in the bathtub, they'll go down the drain! So that was a stupid concept dreamed up by Hollywood types (or Chris Van Allsburg, who probably doesn't know anything about trains, either).

The entire idea that Santa stops bringing you presents and you can't see him (so you're crazy if you do) and Christmas basically dies if people don't believe is messed up. I've seen a lot of cute magic Christmas based stuff, but that wasn't cool to me at all. Also the CGI was scary, not enchanting. I know in this movie trilogy, believing is a power too, but it's not like people just up and die or can't be seen after that, the magic itself goes away slowly, but you can still see people. My favorite thing is that nearly all parents have the santa talk or revelation where their kid sees that he doesn't exist, yet some are still religious when it effectively says the same thing, that believing is the key to something being real and if you don't, you don't reap the rewards from it. Growing up Christian, it always was really a double standard to me, God had nearly the same rules, yet could be merciless and vengeful. Yet Santa, a completely benevolent being who brings me gifts is the one that's fake.

Every Christmas I'm a very good boy I put out milk and cookies for this guy to enjoy But Santa never brings the right toy I felt like giving up on all this holiday joy But if you've seen 'The Santa Clause' you know You become Santa if you put on Santa's coat (oh) You can kill him, leave him dead up in the snow The elves don't even care about you murdering their bro And so This Christmas gon' be special to me I ain't gonna ask for a car with a key I ain't gonna write to Santa asking him, "Please!" 'Cause what I want for Christmas can't fit under the tree I wanna be Santa Claus So I'm gonna kill Santa Claus When I hear those reindeer paws I'm gonna break the law This Christmas, don't got a wish list, I got a hit list And at the top of it is old Saint Nicholas Nothing against him, it's just business I ain't the Grinch but I'm gonna steal Christmas I made a list and checked it twice For all the fucks I give about ending Santa's life And I found none I'll travel at the speed of light If I'm Santa now does mean that I sleep with Santa's wife? 'Cause I'm down, son Fire in my fireplace Not talking 'bout this flying ship when I say Imma slay He gon' die, son Imma wake up Christmas day With all the dopest presents that I forced the elves to make They're my prisoners I'll never understand why this is The way that they decide who the next Santa Claus is How do people not believe that Santa exists In this world, aren't adults concerned about all these gifts they didn't buy? I wanna be Santa Claus So I'm gonna kill Santa Claus When I hear those reindeer paws I'm gonna break the law This Christmas, don't got a wish list, I got a hit list And at the top of it is old Saint Nicholas Nothing against him, it's just business I ain't the Grinch but I'm gonna steal Christmas -Danny Gonzales "I'm gonna kill Santa Claus"

One of my favorites. Call me lowbrow, pedestrian, or common, but this film was made with a ton of heart. The story about the scripting is fantastic, and yes, the initial story very well could have been coke fueled. The final product was handled with care, and the framing of these shots and interplay with the score is amazing. It's an adult movie accessible to kids, and Tim Allen being Tim Allen lines up well with the role intended. Definitely sinable, but this movie never pretends it makes sense, only that it means well.

Yes, finally got The Santa Clause in here (and I hope it's followed by Clause 2 and Clause 3). I really hope we someday get The Santa Clause 4. I love watching this movie at Christmas time and it's a great movie. There are plenty of flaws (like every movie) but it still just always fun to watch and enjoy. The whole Trilogy has plenty of issues (why did no one care that the previous Santa died, how long had he been Santa, why did his body disappear; why does he require a wife, does the power of Santa not care that he was married, does it believe in divorce, etc...) but most of the issues come from the sequels (which always screw-up things in films). This movie is still great fun and Tim Allen was great as Santa Claus. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays CinemaSins.
