I must say that Mr. Allen was a joy to work with on set. I got to work on the Santa's workshop (shot in an old Colgate factory) scenes as a stand-in and was amazed at how humble and caring Tim was towards the cast and crew. He made us laugh, got us drinks and was an all round gentleman.

And your insights have added to the enjoyment of this new hobby. I did own a few Christmas movies before I started this project, though, including this movie which I watch on DVD most years. But your comment regarding the deleted 1-800 phone number scene motivated me to pull out my old VHS to peek at the opening scenes - and sure enough, there it was! I was excited to find that, and if you hadn’t mentioned the pre-1997 VHS I likely wouldn’t have ever missed it in the DVD release. Yet, it sounded very familiar in the VHS when I learn it. The Santa Clause was a good movie

Funny how both of the lead actors in _Toy Story_ played Santa Claus in two different IPs. For those wondering, Tom Hanks played him in _The Polar Express_ , among the train conductor and a few others.

They didn't cut the 1-800-SPANK-ME scene here in Sweden. I have the swedish DVD release of the movie in my collection and the scene is left intact.

PS. How freaking weird. I grew up watching this movie and I never once had the urge to call the 1-800 spank me hotline number.

I never thought of it either and I was a 16 year old guy when it came out.

I always wondered why people did that, but people are still responding to ads in old newspapers and comic books too.

I serious love your reviews! 💚 Could you do a Jean-Pierre Jeunet film perhaps? Like Micmacs , Delicatessen, or City of Lost Children?
