Fun fact:In the original Bram Stoker Dracula Novel, sunlight doesn't kill Dracula it's just stops him from using his powers. The only time when a Vampire was killed by sunlight was the the Nosferatu film which is where the "sunlight kills Vampires" trope comes from.
@septicsorcerer96202 жыл бұрын
Yeah, in fact in the original it was a weakness because it stopped his regen but it didn't kill him. Even after Nosferatu, it didn't immediately catch on but it was another movie (which I can't remember the name of off the top of my head) that had the original concept flopped that caused it to switch over to kill through the sun.
@TomyDayos2 жыл бұрын
I alreandy read a lot about european legends from the medieval times. And I can confirm that sun light dont kill vampires in the legends, neither does the stake to the heart, the stake just paralise then. To destroy a vampire you have to either cut, destroy or burn their head. Also silver weapons are more effective, they hurt a vampire more than regular weapons, but any weapon can be used to kill them. (Silver weapons are good against vampires, werewolves and witches under protection spells as it cause wounds that none of then can regenerate easily.)
@LordOfRandomness132 жыл бұрын
@@TomyDayos so vampires are a cross between zombies and werewolves?
@MangaSword82 жыл бұрын
Bram Stoker’s Dracula sounds waaay fucking cooler. Would love to see more media use that aspect with the vampires.
@TomyDayos2 жыл бұрын
@@LordOfRandomness13 Actually, there are many types of vampire, werewolves and undeads in general in myth and legend. For example, the Islamic vampire attacks mainly during the day, it move bellow the sand where it grab the legs of Arab travelers, it pull then inside the sand before biting and killing then. There is three kinds of werewolves, those who can transform by himself, those who are spiritual wolves(An human spirit leave the body and take the form of an animal, it can be any animal) and those who use magic pelts or belts to transform. (You put the pelt or belt and you became a werewolf.) There is also the vampire-werewolf hybrid. Anyone killed by a bite from an European vampire became his slave, this include werewolves, so vampires actually liked to kill werewolves as they would make stronger slaves than regular humans. Werewolves can also be killed by regular weapon, silver is effective against then due to the belief that silver repel evil. For example, if a witch cast a spell and became immortal and invulnerable to damage, she can still be killed by silver weapons, as silver will bypass all of her spells as if they did not existed. Mmmmm, I should also mention that in the original novel of Bram Stoker’s Dracula all vampires are killed by having their head cut out, which is accurate to the legends.

Considering the number of weaknesses Vampires have, it's a miracle they could exist in the 21st century. Daylight, fire, spilled seeds or grains of any kind, running water, holy symbols, entering homes without invitation, silver, holy water, garlic, wild roses, white animals. Seriously, if they were real they'd go extinct in a few years

then you also have to think.......... a large portion of those "remedies" either require true faith (holy symbol) or a priest of absolute faith (holy water) and silver was just considered a holy metal. you forgot one, blessed lead from old churches. in general false information might have been sprinkled in by vampires themselves to purposefully mislead what they are really weak to. example fire. EVERYTHING has a hard time staying alive if they catch on fire. garlic can also be explained. it has such a pungent smell for a humans imagine how something with smell senses 1000x better would handle garlic. then there is the fact that this is a disease ruled vampire not an occult style vampire. occult vampires were stylized as having the weaknesses and limitations that demons and corporeal evil spirits did. the only real supernatural quality this movie displays is how damn fast they catch on fire when daylight hits them. i must also point out the flaws in one of those "weaknesses". you do know that vampires owned horses in many tales......... so the OCD thing about spilled seeds is absolutely just fluff and not a real weakness. they would just use a broom. they wouldn't sit there maniacally searching for and counting the grain their horses spilled while eating. they would never be able to leave the stable let alone get into shelter from the sun if this weakness was real.

@_LunarDragon2 жыл бұрын
It’s not as easy as you make it sound. If you put the fire out too soon they stay a vampire and if you wait too long they die. There’s probably been plenty of times when a vampire caught fire and someone put it out but it was likely too soon for them to become human, or they were too late and the vampire died. I haven’t actually watched the movie but, depending on how big the window of time is, it would be very difficult for a vampire to be cured accidentally. Especially since all vampires are very aware that sunlight is deadly, and they would need to have something that they could use to put out the fire without stepping into the sunlight them selfs, all this means there’s less opportunities for people to accidentally discover the cure.

A vampire apocalypse is about the easiest to survive. For one thing, you could just become a vampire and go about business as usual. You know that people would instantly become salesmen to humans for their ability to make others immortal. Your next best option is to get just a few aircraft and some building materials to get up to either pole of the Earth. You can go to one pole for around 6 months, living in constant daylight. When it turns to night, you simply fly a bit diagonally as the Earth rotates (to always stay in the sunlight) and fly to the opposite pole for another 6 months of daylight. Of course, all of that assumes that the vampires are only affected by actual sunlight, which I believe is more accurate than simple UV light. If they are actually sensitive to UV light, they are likely also far more sensitive to more energetic forms of light too. If that's the case, we can just build X-Ray weapons and Gamma ray weapons (the latter of which would also be somewhat effective against humans, too.) We can even retroactively apply most of the John Wick films to good use in this universe, as well. X-ray guns? Yes, please! The most realistic and practical solution to this film's most pressing problems is just to enact a few mass genocides on the least valuable vampire populations. For this, we should put Germany, China, and a handful of African countries in charge. If you want a genocide done, those are the people you want on your side. Kill enough other vampires, who would drain you of resources with little contributions in return, and you now just Thanos-ed your way into doubling resources per Capita across the globe!

They wouldn’t be sold in stores either, so that means they would have to create their own, and I’m sure there isn’t many technicians in the hideout that know how to create UV light. Besides, arming multiple vehicles with UV would take a lot of resources they wouldn’t have.

I remember watching this movie back when I was like 17, I got on a really huge kick of watching dozens of different types of horror movies ranging from classics to trash, and looking back on it I'm actually really impressed with how this movie explained the vampirism and its cure. The vampirism is a virus and the way it is cured is for a vampire to suddenly combust in daylight and then have the fire doused. Essentially their body is forced to create new antibodies so-to-speak that combats the vampiric virus in their blood. And a cured human's blood is chock-full of those antibodies which they can spread to other vampires who can spread it again.

I myself think it would be awesome if (DAYBREAKERS) was made into a show series. This way the ideas of how to use the knowledge about the secret cure, and better ways for people to survive vampire attacks can be used as well.

I always enjoyed this movie. Its more grounded in realism. The vampires is really just a byproduct of some disease. No weaknesses to garlic, holy crosses, entering homes with permission etc. none of that extra stuff. Quite literally just everyday normal life, only difference is their vampires. Underrated movie IMO.

No. Vampires are demons, and even then "disease" is no excuse. None would ever enter heaven.

18:40 I wouldn't really suggest putting huge UV lights right outside of my stationary secret base. 1 They probably have Helicopters 2 It wouldn't be secret anymore and that would endanger everyone 3 The base being in one place would give them enough time to find a way to circumvent the lights
