Thanks for this. I followed the steps for a vector, but the Trim Paths created odd artifacts. Update: The file I was given had loops in Illustrator but the loops were solid, if that makes sense. That’s why this didn’t work for me.

You may have an adjustment layer or some other extra layer not shown in this tutorial in your precomp.

can't get the stroke to work on shapes created from vector layer. very frustrating

Really slick - however, my vector stroked outlines don't cast shadows on the floor as in the video. They are set to cast shadows, the floor accepts shadows, and the environment light casts shadows. Both the shape and the floor are affected by the environment light, but no shadow on the floor from my logo. I must have missed something.

Not sure when it was released. But regardless, I highly recommend the latest version of AE.

@SonduckFilm stuck on step 5. When I put a 3D channel extract effect on the precomped layer it turns solid black. I removed the effect and can see my comp perfectly. Layers are stacked correctly do you know any fix?

Make sure there are no extra layers inside of the composition. Turn off adjustment layers or anything extra that is not vital to the effect.
