Every single person in this movie is INSANE. I literally don’t pay any attention to what my neighbors do or don’t do for Christmas decor, except to admire their lights. If they don’t decorate, it literally doesn’t cross my mind because it’s NOT MY BUSINESS.
@Imagigirl10 жыл бұрын
I remember reading an entry in the SCP Foundation that reminded me of this movie. SCP-784, "Christmas Cheer," described as an anomalous neighborhood in Texas covered in Christmas light year-round, always covered in snow. The residents all dress in Christmas sweaters and do nothing but Christmas-related activities. If a non-resident enters and doesn't show enough Christmas spirit, the residents violently assault them, incapacitate them, and drag them into the nearest house. I wonder if the person who wrote that entry saw this movie and thought that the behavior of the neighbors would be good for horror inspiration. I could see that.
@UnclePhil733 жыл бұрын
I've thought about how to improve the movie. Make the daughter 12 years old. Tim Allen is actually the stepdad. Jamie Lee Curtis always grew up and made a big deal around Christmas whereas Tim never did. The movie takes place during their third Christmas together. The first Christmas Jamie and her husband (the real dad) were just separated and Tim gets overwhelmed by the massive Christmas celebration Jamie puts on but begrudgingly goes along with it. Last Christmas they were married and Jamie and Tim have custody of the daughter and again Tim has to put up with the Christmas chaos. This Christmas, the real dad has custody so it will be the first Christmas the Kranks are childless. Tim puts his foot down and says we've done two Christmases your way, this year we do it my way. She begrudgingly goes along with it. Then you can do the vacation bit. Instead of the crazy townspeople, the comedy can come from Jamie trying to sneak the big over the top Christmas stuff behind Tim's back, but Tim putting his foot down. But suddenly, the real dad calls and for some reason, he can't keep the daughter, so he is flying the daughter back last minute to stay with the Kranks. Jamie puts her foot down and says if the daughter is home, the over the top Christmas goes on. Jamie gives a heartfelt speech about Christmas isn't about you but making memories for all. Tim smiles and agrees. Crazy shenanigans ensue. But then Jamie comes to the epiphany wondering why she's doing all this, memories can still be made as long as they are together. So when they pick the daughter up at the airport, they greet her smiling with a third ticket in hand and they fly off to a great vacation together as a family. The End

I remember Jamie Lee Curtis being *extremely* bitter about the negative reception this film earned. She went on a late night talk show (I think it was Leno) to promote the movie; the host made the mistake of mentioning The Polar Express, which had released around the same time (and was getting a MUCH better reception); Curtis IMMEDIATELY cut him off, angrily ranting about how The Polar Express was overrated and overhyped. I remember her being particularly annoyed by the behind-the-scenes interviews with Tom Hanks in the motion capture suit (or, as she called it, the "condom suit"), and saying that the movie "blew its load" before it was even out in theaters. Now, almost 20 years later, people are still watching and emjoying The Polar Express every Christmas; NO ONE is watching Christmas With the Kranks.

I have a deep hatred for this movie considering the ridiculous message that it tries to hammer into the viewers skull and the flat out terrible attempt at trying to be a comedy. This movie left me with a bad taste in my mouth that still bothers me to this day. Everybody was so damn unlikable, Its just stupid that they actually are this selfish up to the point where they harass other people just for their attempt at celebrating Christmas in a different way, thus breaking their tradition, but why should they give a flying fuck about what their neighbors are going to do. The best thing they would have done was leave them alone and that's it. I just fucking hate this movie, it insults the very aspect of trying something new instead of doing the same thing over and over each year. In conclusion: FUCK THIS MOVIE!!!

what's insulting about this movie is that It's about assholes harrassing a family until they do what they selfishly want and this somehow is a happy ending and the kranks were wrong in skipping christmas. Giving to most charities is like throwing your money up in the air and seeing where it lands. Sure, there are worthy charities like the Cancer Council or Diabetes America/wherever you are. But there are also a metric ton of charities that are basically tax dodges for the people who head them. There are even charities out there that are actively despised by the people they purport to "help"/"represent". There ought to be a law saying that when your mere existence gives the people you claim you are helping PTSD symptoms, you do not get to be a charity anymore. Then there is the ludicrous idea that the welfare system can be replaced by charity...

Though that's only justified by the fact that they were suspicious of Mr. Krank potentially committing breaking and entering. Everything else is completely unnecessary, though then again, it isn't illegal to peep at people who are out in public. It's also worth noting that handing the wavers for a cruise over to someone else would be completely useless. The wavers are in their name, and they cannot be transferred over. In other words, the only people that are allowed to go on that cruise are the Kranks.

And the critic, to his credit didn’t steal any material from this review, he was too busy shitting on the fans who have stuck through with him through all of his bullshit including demo reel, the Patreon scam, him bringing the show back only for it to be demo reel 2.0, You can’t create rules for people to follow, only for you to say that those rules don’t apply to you

He did make the same joke about the author that Smeghead did. And end it with “and ____ can suck it.”.

Nick Smith I'd hate to see what would happen if there were any living in this crazy town.

Tyler Hill I think it would involve a dozen grenade ornaments like in Iron Man 3

Imagine Mr. Scrooge was living in this town. I don't think the three ghost wouldn't need to do anything.... the whole town would do their jobs for them.

I have to admit, I have seen this movie a lot of times, but every time I have the same issues you have. I think its like its so stupid, so bad, so filled with dumbassness (as you so well pointed out) that I cannot resist. I guess its a guilty pleasure. But its guilty of every single stupid, backwards, incongruous, ridiculous thing you pointed out. GREAT VIDEO! :)

I have a strong feeling this is one of those movies, like The Cat in the Hat and Unfriended, where I'm gonna have an aneurysm from the sheer anger. In this case, it's the sheer 'torture porn' nature of it all.

I thought the movie was funny, stupidly funny, lol but then again I'm easily entertained. It made me laugh every scene though. And the Beatle bug Santa sleigh was a cute thing for the kids seeing this playing on TV in my opinion. Your critiques, are still hilarious lol

6100 dollars?Damn thats alot of money for one holiday.

If you add up the cost of the donations, presents, decorations, a huge ass Christmas party, buying and shipping Christmas cards which are probably customized, the power to run that shit and the gas to get it to the house, especially since being upper middle class they have to be ostentatious about it and they probably have a lot of extended family to cover, sixty-one hundred seems about right.

Also, to be fair, when Blair calls them up to tell them she's going home, they probably didn't want to disappoint her, because she is their only daughter and I'm sure they don't want Blair to do similar things as their neighbours have been doing.

Don't forget the other non-Christmas holidays that no one has heard of but are still underrated, like Ausmas (basically Australian Xmas,).

I'm not surprised they spent $6000 if they have to give gifts to everyone in the neighbourhood. Who does that? I dont even know my neighbours.

battlefield earth, good luck another one Nostalgia Critic did really well, especially Spoony's hilarious Terl cameo
@foreverknight1310 жыл бұрын
Agreed, but honestly the critic and Smegghead have to this day reviewed 3 of the same movies, D&D, Catwoman, and Cat in the Hat. The key is to see them as their own work and never compare them. If we compared then we lose entertainment and it gets boring.
@movieman41010 жыл бұрын
true, i realized critic didnt say everything that needed to be said, theres so much more possibilities for other people, i watched battlefield earth myself and realized there's so much more
