What's up everyone?! I hope this cinematic SL2 tutorial was helpful. I love how powerful this camera is for the price. A lot of people dismiss it as a beginner camera, but I think the results are pretty good. Let me know what you think!! Was there too much detail? Not enough? What did you like, and also, what did you not like? What would you like to see more of? Would love to know what you think, good or bad. I am grateful in advance 🙏

Tech Gear Talk my pleasure. I would’ve loved to see this when I was starting out. My only concern about how many views this gets is because it’s tied to the SL2 and Canon seems to be moving away from DSLRs right now. But I guess you could just make it again with a different camera. ;-) I’ve said this before but I’m really thankful for this new batch of camera/photography youtubers coming up who just seem to want to help.

Whoa whoa whoaaa!!! Sege this was amazing video for us beginners to try and comprehend how to make real cinematic shots!!! And as i have the sl2 this was perfect!!! Whoa there is a lot of information and guidance here, some of which i don't completely understand but this is probably THE BEST how to, cinematic, with the sl2 and everything i need to know!!! Amazing!!! Thank you so much and with practice i hope i will understand everything.

Ok, you can look at something like Filmora (easy to use, but has a fee) or DaVinci Resolve (not really beginner, but professional editing software that is free).
@TechGearTalk5 жыл бұрын
Download Filmora and try it. I think it's free unless you want to export without a watermark. Davinci Resolve will take a lot more work to learn, but it can do more. I would start with Filmora.

Good to see you're still making SL2 content. This little camera is more capable than some realise I believe. I just uploaded my first SL2 video - just using it to document life on the ranch really, but it's fun to work with. It's also the definition of great value! Subbed btw.

So glad it was useful Andy. Do you already have the sl2/200d?
@andyobrien62635 жыл бұрын
Tech Gear Talk Yes I do have the 200d, I’m a wildlife photographer & videographer & use it for certain parts of my workflow. I have the Nikon d5,d850 & d500 for stills & the Fuji XT3 & XH1 for video, however the 200d is great for quick timelapse, vlog & Broll - the colour science is great straight out of camera & it’s so light & easy to use on sliders & gimbals. I also use one for my DSLR camera traps which means it can be left outside for weeks at a time in a weatherproof housing but it’s never failed to date!

That's a pretty sweet lineup there. A tool for every job. I think people sometimes underrate these smaller cameras because they are only looking at specs and don't take into account workflow and real-life use. What you described is a perfect example. very inspiring. as the owner of an SL2, i purchased it for the dual pixel autofocus. i have read plenty of web slams about the soft 1080p, canon mp4 codec. sure, it's not 4k. sure, it's not the sharpest footage. that said, there is something very appealing about the image, especially since so much of the footage we see is distributed on the web. thank you for the effort and the sharing. i look forward to ANY and ALL SL2 vids you post. BIG thumbs up for a job well done.

@TechGearTalk5 жыл бұрын
Ok, in your room, it would depend on what you consider "decent illumination". My guess is that you don't have enough light. You would need a lens that opens up wider than f/4.5 and/or to add light. Does that make sense?

@@TechGearTalk I usually underestimate the fact that good responses can push us forward on content making. i'm currently at 6k subscribers and every video i make and ge that positivity just makes things way better to go. As for questions, i want to know more about color correcting and color grading in a way that things dont look so overdone. I've tried to make my footage more cinematic by altering those values and i can't seem to find the good spot for that. usually i see the shadows just pitch black and grainy whenever i up those midtones and also been having issues with over saturating stuff. i rather make my own luts but i need to master them before trying, thank you so much for this great content, i've watched a couple of videos now.
