Incredible quality right off the box. No much "tweaking" needed, except for some EQ perhaps, depending on a project. Awesome product, and a real "time saver" when it comes down to pure composition process. No need of having 50 MIDI tracks vertically just for strings in your DAW. Everything is mapped out so logically, intuitively, once you get used to it. Velocity on sustained notes is done by CC#1, and by note velocity on short articulations. I love that concept !! Highly recommended purchase :)

Hi, thanks for the question. :) CS2 is primarily a download product, but you can choose "DVD-backup" as an optional extra for $9.95 on the purchase page. DVDs are delivered to your door; allow 2-3 weeks for delivery. Hope this helps! :)

@toshiroo Hi - that only takes up 1.18Gb because multiple mic distances are loaded. You can unload the additional mic distances and only use the Mixed version (a mix of all 3 mics into the 1 stereo mix). This only takes up 470mb for a full patch. And if you need to cut down RAM usage even more, you can unload any articulations you aren't using. :)

Oh wow! I have been using Hypersonic for my orchestra sounds and thought it was pretty nice. A friend mentioned that Kontakt has some software with some higher quality but fucking wow! This is great!

Hi, the dynamics in CS are controlled primarily by the Modwheel. Or to be more accurate, dynamics for the long notes - Arco, tremolo and trills are all modulated / controlled via modwheel; while the short notes - Staccatissimo / Staccato and pizzicato, are controlled by velocity.

@@Metalpazallteway That's just how the real room sounds. For orchestral purposes is very important to have a real room. If you want something dry-ish for pop or something similar you'll need a different library, such as Cinematic Studio Strings

I'm a LASS guy, it's more versatile than HS but to my ears more lush than CS. I really like the direction CS is going in though, and I wouldn't be surprised if they eventually wind up on my "to-purchase" list, hence why I'm here in the first place ;o) Though of course I agree that CS seems less troublesome than HS.

I'm not talking about sound or which one is the better option, just correcting an inaccuracy. But personally sound has more to do with my purchasing decision than the player engine, and when it comes to sound I don't like Cinematic Strings or Hollywood Strings as much as some other options out there.

Sounds great! But I have a question: How 'dry' can this library sound? In the pop project I'm about to work on I want dry (ie. without reverb) strings! At 1:00 in the vid., it sounded as if there was plenty of reverb, even when just using the close mics. Was the reverb we hear there part of the samples or was some additional reverb being applied?

I highly recommend this Kontakt Refill, the richest Strings vst that I have used and I've tried a lot. The only down fall is that you need a powerful Rig if your produce music at home. This Refill is a Memory hog.

Huh? No it's not. HS Gold is twenty-five dollars cheaper, and for most purposes Gold is all you'd need. It should all come down to sound in the end, and both sound VERY good.

I guess I was just hoping that the software could assign key switches, say, on my the bottom keys of my 88 key controller, which my left hand could execute without having to look to and reach for my pc keyboard.

Hello, I just have one concern if anyone can help, I feel that its simple and it might have been right in front of my face. The Velocity/Dynamics. Like any VSTi for ex drums, you can control the velocity of the drums through a midi piano roll. To make snare rolls and anything for that matter sound more realistic. Problem Im having is I cant achieve this with CS. When i lower or raise the velocity in my DAW, it doesnt change how CS sounds. No soft or hard notes. It just plays the same loudness an

In the same MIDI file with Sustain LONG NOTES (Arco), I want to put more volume in just some notes and vary the volume of the other notes. Controlling the dynamics with the Modwheell this looks impossible! What should i do???

What do i set Cinematic Strings to so that it responds to the velocity in the MIDI piano roll that you map the notes on? Hey, can you help me on how to use Pedal for Articulation in the VST like LA scoring and Cinematic Strings. What setting are to be done so that it works. Midi is working but I want to use Articulation feature as well. Later I came to know it can be done thru pedals so need guidance on it.
