I absolutely love this piece. Where did you learn to compose string quartets?
@ManyWorldsMusic2 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I’ve studied music in general and closely examined the great works in the string quartet repertoire from Haydn to Bartok. I think the best way to learn to write for string quartet is to listen to as many examples as possible and with the score if you can.

Your songs are always novel, funny and informative. Do you write sheet first when you compose? Or do you compose right away at DAW?
@ManyWorldsMusic4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! I usually just use the DAW. I've got used to editing in the piano roll editor over the years although I sometimes use the score editor. I play the tracks in from my keyboard and edit afterwards but sometimes if there's a lot of counterpoint I enter notes into the piano roll. I think on this piece I did use the score editor a lot for visual feedback.

@@ManyWorldsMusic In a way, maybe to get used to composing at DAW. I still think scoring music can develop a little more imagination. It is such a small piece but a good compose to me. Is there anything you can advise me to write this song?

Dear Sir / Madam, did you actually score the music in a scoring software and make the CSSS play it? Or did you write it in the CSSS?
@ManyWorldsMusic3 жыл бұрын
Hi, I find it’s better to write the music in the Daw itself (Logic) as I always end up tailoring the composition to whatever library I’m using. I think it’s very hard to get a realistic sound if using scoring software. The score in this video is just Logic’s interpretation of what I played so it might not be 100% accurate.

Do you use many other solo strings libraries? can you compare any?
@ManyWorldsMusic5 жыл бұрын
I have LASS which has First Chair but I haven't used it very much for this type of thing and the sound isn't quite as nice to me.

Can you either share the midi or explain how you transition between articulations? When I do this the samples overlap and it sounds like multiple instruments.
@ManyWorldsMusic5 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it's impossible to avoid. I find it happening mostly when adding vibrato. Otherwise its a question of making adjustments in the piano roll editor to CCs, note length and note position. It's quite a fiddly process and not speedy.

Be nice! It's his piece and he shares if he likes to...

The score is on the screen. You can notate it in a score editor and then import it to your DAW, that way you will have the MIDI.
