@jamesgeiger47958 жыл бұрын
+SupernalOne No...Neil Diamond actually wrote this song as well as I'm A Believer. I'm sure he got royalties from it. He wrote a lot of hits for a lot of artist. The reason I said this song screams Neil Diamond is because I could tell just by listening to it. Not only because of the similar chord structure to Cherry Cherry. It's just the feel, the rhythm and the lyrics sounds very Neil Diamondish. I guessed it to be a Neil Diamond song before I checked the credits to see.

I don't want to burst anyone's bubble about the monkees but before I say this, I love the monkees. The monkees was a band formed by the owners of the monkees cartoon show. They really didn't know each other. According tothe documentary I watched months ago, early on the monkees didn't write their song and didn't sing very many. It was actually a band that didn't exist so to speak. They were hired to eventually do the cartoon show. Later on they protested so much that they were allowed to write a "few" songs. Now how many and which songs are not known. They were also allowed to do some vocals. And when the cartoon show ended they were literally out of a job. The powers that be eventually allowed them to go out on their own and use the Monkees name. But it didn't last long as they underestimated what it took to have a successful band. Now granted, all this was according to the documentary. I've never googled it to see what the internet said. Y'all might want to do that if your interested enough. But let me say I really don't care, the Monkees were a part of my teenage years and I will always love them. I'm 72 and just found out about 6 mos ago.

Davy's vocals are more in front than the original. More punch all the way around. Great job! Why didn't they mix the original like this?
@cinematic359 жыл бұрын
+azcappra I added my voice on top of Davey's to give it more punch in certain parts. I do voice impersonations of over 200 famous people and it helps me when I make these enhanced recordings. I'd like to point out something else in relation to your question as to why they didn't make the original recording like this. For one thing the studios were primitive to what we have access to today. Looking back they did as pretty good job as could be expected for that time but by today's standards of what is possible the quality needs something to be desired. That is precisely why I make these enhanced versions because (1) I have the recording equipment and computer multitrack digital software that allows me to bring up the quality of the original to a higher standard while still preserving the quality of the original version. (2) I would not have been able to make recordings like this even 5 years ago because it takes hundreds if not thousands of hours of sound experimentation to know how to integrate new instruments into the old recordings in a way that does justice to the style of the original. I don't get paid a dime to do any of this and probably never will. (3) I do this because I like to hear the old classics in a way that sounds like they are new again for my own listening pleasure. (4) KZbin allows me to share these versions with an audience I would never have access to otherwise. (5) As an offshoot of KZbin and the over 2 million hits I've had some radio stations are now playing these versions on their oldies shows. To me it's the ultimate fun hobby and that's why I do it. Kenn

@@cinematic35 Well said . You want to hear a great remaster job go listen to the remastered version of The Beatles 1 greatest hits . Giles Martin did an incredible job with it and how the stereo versions should have sounded way back when . No more left side vocals with instruments on the other side . Voices are centered , the instruments and bass have a lot more punch to them . Ringos kickdrum is very noticeable now . Just a great job .

@cinematic357 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen some of these comments and I'm glad you like these enhanced versions. I'm only making them because there is an audience on KZbin for it. My circle of friends might be 15 people I would have been able to share them with but because of KZbin it's more like 3 million and counting. How do I make these recording? Basically I like to fool around with audio signals, especially sound effects. My friends had a small home recording studio back in the 1990's and that is where I got experience in multitracking with a Teac 8-Track machine. Then digital multitracks came along and better yet the computer multitrack program. That did it for me cause then I had the studio inside the computer program to quality control audio signals to a perfection. Olivia Newton John was the first recording artists I enhanced back in the 1980's and from there is has included over 200 more artists. So that is what you're hearing on these uploaded versions of the old classics made to sound like new remastered or alternate versions. Kenn

This record got kind of buried; despite reaching #2 on Billboard it did not see an LP stereo release-cut from “Headquarters” (1967). An incomplete, rather pissy version turned up on Greatest Hits in 1969. It was finally properly mixed in stereo for the boxed set “Listen to the Band” (1991). This particular mix is amazing; clean & clear.

Wow. the tambourine isn't original? Another terrific job! What's more difficult, doing the audio or doing the video portion? I'd say the video is much more time consuming but I guess I could be wrong.
@cinematic356 жыл бұрын
No it's not the video it's the tracking of the audio that averages 6-10 hours depending on the artist and song. The video portion are photos based on a arrangement of photos taken from a huge library saved over past 20 years. The average video takes 2-3 hours. It's a packaged deal with the 2 together I'd say!
