I was so impressed by how they presented Ted's mental health. I cried at how well they portrayed his panic attacks. I only ever experienced one myself, and it wasn't from personal anxiety but from a bad reaction to laughing gas at the dentist, but what an awful experience. Wouldn't wish it on anyone.

Hard agree on Ted's panic attacks. I still remember two jobs ago when I was trying to prevent it coming and I instinctually hid my hands. Unfortunately, one coworker refused to speak to me for reasons and the other one outright said I wasn't about to have a panic attack when I asked for her help. Not even two minutes later, I was struggling to catch my breath on the floor. Fortunately, my sister was getting ready to leave (she worked in a different department) and helped calm me down. When I saw Ted have his panic attacks, it felt like he was going through the same issue

Yeah, panic attacks are the worst....they just creep up on you. And especially with the first one, you don't know how to react and you genuinely think you gonna have to die....it's the worst feeling.

There’s a scene in which Ted addresses his ex wife about her new relationship. Jason Sudekis took some stick for that, the criticism being that it validated his behaviours off-screen in his divorce. But that’s why I loved it. That was such an honest depiction of the emotional weight, panic, anger, everything that a divorce with children can have on someone - even the most optimistic of people. In all of the fantasy of Ted Lasso - and of course it’s fantasy - there’s some genuine moments of realism that many other shows would shy away from.

Although everyone speaks about Roy and Jamies arc, seeing Jamie stand up to his dad out of aggression and instantly reverting back to shock and the fear he felt as a child and Roys recognition of the role he plays in Jamie’s life and knowing exactly what to do to comfort him in the moment while the rest of the team stands frozen is amazing writing and acting

It's important to note that Ted doesn't just use positivity to cover his pain, that just makes it seem toxic, fake and a defense mechanism. But Ted chooses to be positive, regardless of the circumstance, and it's the choice that makes his positivity so IMPORTANT!

Ted Lasso is the show that brought my father and I closer together after the death of my mother. For years, we both felt the loss of her, but thanks to Jason Sudeikis’ incredible comedy and emotional story telling, it helped bring a smile back to my dads face. Recently I moved away from the UK to San Diego to be with my wife and the finale of Ted Lasso helped make the farewell between my dad and I much better because we know that just like Ted and his family/Richmond, we will always love each other no matter how far apart we are. This series is incredible and I hope that it gives everyone else who watches it the same joy it gave to my father and I.

IMO that was the point though. Sometimes people feel backed into a corner through circumstance or their own doing. Even if they haven’t EARNED another chance, the only thing standing between them & redemption is someone to forgive them so they can have hope again. Beard went to jail, Ted gave him a place to stay & he stole his car. Logically, Ted had NO reason to forgive him & Beard had NO expectation of being given another chance/forgiven. Ted knew Beard was capable of good but he was stuck in a self destructive cycle. Nate is a good person who (because he had been bullied & ignored most of his life) was very protective of his relationship with Ted. When the one good thing in his life was threatened (e.g. when he feared Ted would pull away from him) he succumbed to negative emotions & as a method of psychological self defense, tried to hurt Ted because he felt like he couldn’t take it back/earn forgiveness.

I am not a football fan and Ted Lasso absolutely absorbed my attention span. It's so, so sweet and warm and kind. Every single time I expected the show to jump the shark and cash in for some cheap jokes - it didnt, and the character writing is incredible, every single character deviates from cliche behaviour and that really makes the show feel real.

Ted Lasso is perfect. As someone who has suffered from panic attacks for 19 years I commend it on being the most realistic depiction of anxiety (for me) ever put to film. I appreciate that everyone's experiences are different but Ted's anxiety attacks are 100% like mine. And that's about the millionth reason why I love this show!

The platonic relationship point is so well said. Those interactions are so valuable but I can’t recall other shows that did them so well without even the slightest bit of romantic undertone. With Camry and Syd and Rebecca and Ted there’s never even a question but you always leave each scene feeling like they have a real connection beyond what we see on screen full of conflict and ups and downs those relationships are core to both shows and without them the other stuff just can’t work as well

The best thing is just how genuine each characters’ growth feels. Each season starts and ends with a character (season 1, Rebecca, season 2, Nate, season 3, Ted) and each season shows these characters’ changing along with everyone else. In season one Rebecca owns and accepts her mistake of setting up Ted for failure while Leslie starts being more “chill” as he says, or Nate slowly developing that confidence that would then destroy him, or Roy finally softening up for seasons to come. Season 2 is Nate’s downfall along Jamie’s redemption and sam’s personal journey. Season 3 are the loose ends getting tied, ted accepts his place in the US, Roy opens up, Nate has his redemption, Rebecca gets her revenge on Rupert and so much more (like Collin, keeley, Trent, Beard and so on) and I just love to see these characters grow before your eyes (literally phoebe grows up between seasons)

As I said before - I never seen in a show a genuine forgiveness - the one that is not another plot hook for another season. Ted forgives Rebecca and... it never comes back actually (not seriously at least). That is why I loved it so much after the first season. And for me second season was amazing. Third season was also really freaking good.

Nate never changed. His character was revealed more openly in season 2&3 but he was always who he was he simply had no power and did not feel like he could express what he wished. When given that power he did but he did not change. He eventually grew from it and became better but he was absolutely the same character until he did choose to grow from it.

I had to stop this video after the first four minutes and watch Ted Lasso as soon as I had the time. While four episodes in, my only wish is that I could have seen it sooner. The darkest days of my life, so far at least have passed, Ted Lasso could have been a shining moment of enlightenment, joy, and wholesomeness during that time. Honestly, I think Ted Lasso nailed it. As an American who follows the EPL (Arsenal forever!) they get the majority of the football stuff right while pointing a mirror at the sport and addressing many of the issues that athletes, fans, and sports all struggle to address either individually or as a whole. Plus it's just good television that took risks and they paid off.

I started watching this series three weeks ago and could not stop watching it. I just finished watching it today and it is every bit as fantastic as I wanted it to be. Every main character is lovable, the moments between characters are some of the best interactions on television, and this show conveys a wide range of emotions masterfully! Cinema Therapy draws attention to that apology scene very well. Jason Sudeikis shows every emotion you would expect some to have in that situation in the course of 10 seconds. You can see Ted's shock, betrayal, anger, understanding, love, and acceptance on his face. The character clearly experiences all of that and just gets to where he needs to faster than the average person.

Roy watching Issac every time he did something that made him the to-be-chosen captain. Jamie growing closer and closer to Sam, damm, the whole Jamie journey. Gold, pure gold. I’m pretty sure Ted's first panic attack was during the press conference in the pilot. The audio recedes, the ringing fades in, Ted's hands start shaking, and there are several really short cuts between his face and the reporters.

Alright alright, I’ll rewatch the greatness that is Ted Lasso

This show genuinely changed my life. I related so much to both Ted and Rebecca in different ways and even though I am in the camp who was depressed about the ending, I still think the show was incredible and everyone should absolutely watch it.

I'm really glad you talked about both of these shows! I've been in love with Ted Lasso since I started watching it during season 2 and The Bear since season one. Both some of (if not) the best shows I've ever seen, with so many feelings and amazing moments packed into every episode. Can't wait to see where The Bear goes from here but I know both shows will stick with me forever

The whole reason I watched this show is because you said about it in the last video. It was on my watchlist for ages but just didn't get around it until then. Whilst watching it, I actually forgot I was doing it for this video. I finished the show yesterday so seeing this upload today got me excited all over again. I guess my angle of watching the show must have been different to a lot of you on the other side of the pond. I really liked the first 2 seasons and was surprised to hear that apparently people didn't like the second but with me being British, I guess that makes sense. It was relatable to me. It's the hope that kills you was a quote that really hit home for me. Nate being a dick was kind of a relief for me as it gave me more of an antagonist to dislike. I enjoyed hating him and seeing his miserable guilt. Then with season 3, I had trouble with it. It was showing too much of the side characters and not enough Ted. They were trying to get us to feel sorry for Nate and giving him way too much screen time which was bothering me a lot. I'd say like the last 3 episodes saved the season though. They were absolutely phenomenal. I cried like a baby at the end, so much so, that I'm sure Keeley would've liked to have seen it 😉😅

I’m a big fan of Parks and Recreation and for Christmas my grandma got me a card game based on Ted Lasso because she thought it was Ron Swanson. To be fair they do look similar. I still have the game. I never told her the mistake she made. I played it off very well because I immediately knew what was going on.

Wonderful commentary. I agree with pretty much everything you mentioned but in particular how they don’t stretch out the drama for the the sake of it. They handle it like….um… Adults!! Bravo.
