Black Panther changed the landscape of marketable movies even more than Deadpool did. Not everyone was a fan, so here's why they're wrong. :) Been a while since I used that line. Here's everything right with Black Panther!

Honestly, I think my favorite thing about Black Panther is how T’Challa ended up following Killmonger’s lead. He took a different approach to opening up Wakanda, but he realized that keeping the secret was how they were put into a Civil War. You don’t see many movie heroes do things like that, it’s usually “they’re wrong and I’m right”. T’Challa understood the villain’s motive and decided it could be a good direction to go in, just with a different method.

It would've been interesting to see Killmonger among the ancestors, not because he fully deserves it, but because his perspective could help. I don't mean his knowledge of war but his knowledge of the life of a person who grew up outside of advanced Wakanda.

I like thinking of the Wakandan Civil War as two sides with the same end goal but different executions; one side are pacifists while the other are tyrants or more opposed to violence.

Killmonger wanted to rule the world and establish a global black supremacist order. T'Challa decided to end the Wakandan isolationist tradition and actively share in shouldering the world's burdens, promoting harmony among all the Earth's peoples. Only similarity is that both plans involve Wakanda no longer hiding itself.

@@felynecomrade True. Killmonger, unlike T’Challa, grew up being abuse by American racism so he had it out for the colonizers. T’Challa, having grown up in Wakanda and seeing what the isolation did to Killmonger, wanted to help the world and let it in.

@@CherryBomb_Games I dont think you're being condescending. I think there is a difference between method acting and isolation. Method actors = Daniel Day Lewis, maybe Keanu Reeves. Isolation = Ledger, Michael B and Leto (joker). The difference being, method actors still eat coffee & donuts and act as themselves during breaks. Isolationists never break character so no chit chat during coffee & donuts. Jmo but my best example is Leto. For Dallas buyers club = method. He put in his work and research before filming and acted normal during breaks. For his Joker role, Leto admitted he stayed in character and even sent his castmates "joker" style surprises during filming. There is something to be appreciated for both method and isolation acting. Hello everyone! I would like to address something I have gotten many comments about. Yes, my background has changed because my recording space has changed. In my previous house we had a finished basement, and I would record there, and I was able to leave my recording equipment up (four lights, camera, tripod, mic, table, background etc). When we moved to this new house, I started recording in my living room but that was very difficult. It only allowed me to record during very limited days and hours (two hours a day on Mon and Fri). when the kids were not home, and I obviously could not leave all that equipment up because it was my living room, which means it wouldn't be fair to my family to have our entire living room acting as my recording space 24/7. And, it upped the chances of something getting broken, and I don't know about you, but I can't be replacing expensive items like that. Additionally, I got complaints about reflections in my glasses, etc, because I would have to take everything down and set it back up again every time I recorded, meaning that sweet spot where I was lit properly but didn't have a reflection in my glasses was hard to find again. So, I got the booth, put it in my basement and this allows me to not only record more often during the week because it's soundproof (meaning more videos, as you have seen this month) but, I could leave my equipment up so that sweet spot was always there. It has made my life easier and more productive. Now, I do plan on adding a back drop, putting some things in the back to make it more personal and homey, but there are also challenges there. One, it took a long time to get it set up and ready to use, and I just need a little break, and I have a lot of work to do, as well as family stuff happening. Two, it's going to take time and money to plan exactly what I want to do with it. Do I want to get a green screen and change up the background? Maybe, but then I have to learn how to use a green screen, and we all know how dumb I am with technology. Maybe I'll just put a back drop, a nice lamp, some books etc, like my last recording area, but that still takes planning and funds since most of that stuff either will not fit (so I have to get smaller, scaled down versions) or is being used elsewhere in the house now. I am working on turning the booth into something that is great, but it's one of those "do you want it done fast or right" sort of situations, and I'd like to get it right. For now I am happy that the sound quality is top notch, and I have the lighting set up where you don't see reflections in my glasses, since these have been challenges in the past, and I only ask that you allow me to enjoy these small successes for a little while before I move on to the next challenge. Some of you have said you are unsubscribing specifically because of the background, I am very sorry you feel that way, because my content hasn't changed, and I think the video quality has only gotten better. I am only one person, I don't work with a team. I do my own research, writing, editing, posting, thumbnails, everything, and as much as I LOVE what I do, it takes a lot of time, leaving very little for anything else. But, if you can be patient with me for a few weeks, let me catch up and get back on track, I promise the background will be so much more cozy and Harlowe like, it's really going to be great, but sometimes finding that perfect set up takes a little time. For those of you want to unsubscribe, I can't stop you, but check back in a little while and see if it's more to your liking, and maybe you will rejoin the community. For those of you who have had my back and have been understanding, patient and awesome since the start, I really appreciate you from the bottom of my heart. You know how hard it gets to be a human sometimes, you know none of us is perfect but we are all trying our best, and you are the ones who keep me going every day, even some days where I feel a little down. Thanks for reading this book. I'll see you in the next video!

13:00 - 13:15 Can't wait for those of you who haven't seen Wakanda Forever to catch up. Winston Duke provides us with one of the most progressive character developments. He goes from traditional "stereotypical first bad guy" to comic relief to PTSD soldier over the course of Infinity War. That scene where he is one of the only ones to survive the battlefield in IW was serious acting.

Personally, I thought that this was a fantastic film. Every aspect was well executed. There was also a message that EVERYONE could relate to, regardless of skin color: people with power should use that power to help those without it. For the record, I think that the lab scene between T'Challa and Shuri should have gotten at least 10 points on its own.

Totally agree on one of your last points. I'm black, and African, and I see no reason why anyone has to qualify their enjoyment or love of this film by first saying "I'm not black/I don't share this culture but...". The film is fantastic; anyone can love it. The same way everyone has been loving films for the past however many years. Most of the characters in BP are relatable in a variety of ways beyond their skin color. I think that's one of the strengths of the movie--the variety in the character's personalities/bearings. So, yeah, just . . . enjoy things, everyone. :)

Definitely. It's a fictional country that I'm sure almost everyone wishes was the reality of their own nation. What saddens me about the hype for BP was only the fact that it was an almost exclusively black actors/actresses movie. My friend and I have been to every MCU and DC movie since Guardians 1 and almost never seen black people in the theaters. BP came out and it was packed. Only a hand full of white people when we seated and when we came out. Great for the box office. Infinity war? Saw two black people in the theater. And I live in South Africa. 80% black population. I might be wrong in thinking this, but I think a very large amount of black people went to watch it just for the sole reason that it is a "African" movie, and have no interest in the MCU or comic movie franchise.

Killmonger also works as a reflection of what T'Challa could have been if he hadn't undergone the arc he went through in Civil War. Erik is driven by the need to have revenge on those responsible for the death of his father- which is exactly what T'Challa's motivation was in Civil War. But while T'Challa learnt not to let veangence consume him; Erik continued to be driven by hate from childhood to adulthood.

Kinda surprised that you didn't point out that part of Killmonger's plan, to have Wakanda rule as the dominant nation of the world, was pretty much the exact same thing, same mistake, Europeans and Americans did during and after the Age of Discovery; the idea that his culture is superior to another's because they're technology is more advanced.

I thought it would be a win, assuming I'm even right about Killmonger's plan. Killmonger is ignoring history and his ideas are in opposition to T'Challa's, who had no interest in making Wakanda the head of a global empire. It gives us another reason to want T'Challa to succeed.

Spaced Oyster It is mentioned though, around 22:10. His outline for his retaliation/redemption is a product of where he grew up. That’s what makes him such a tragic character. He wants to be a part of Wakanda, but Ross says he’s “one of ours”. Erik may not even realize how much he is “one of ours”. Personally, that stuck with me because as an African- American there is always this longing to be apart of something traditionally African, but also an uncomfortable feeling in the back of my mind that, through different systematic processes, I’m a foreigner to that culture. I’m culturally American, and my behavior reflects this. I LOVE being American, I’m proud of it, but there’s always that subconscious question of “what if??”. I think Erik personified that feeling perfectly.

T'Chakkah at least is separated from the boy, but Zuri lived amongst N'jobu in America, very well knew what a parentless world would be like for him and still chose to leave him. Here's something worth a win: near the beginning when Shuri shows T'Challa the new Black Panther "necklaces", T'Challa mentions that 'the idea is not to be noticed' and chooses the smaller, less noticeable necklace. He believes in keeping Wakanda hidden and down low. Erik, on the other hand, picks the larger, more flashy necklace that T'Challa previously turned down. He wants Wakanda to be noticed, to be in the spotlight, to rule over all people. In the final battle, these two suits represent the two ideas, these two mindsets facing off.

My favourite part of the movie is that Wakanda is a highly advanced country that is probably decades of advanced than other countries, they still kept their culture so WELL. They combined Modern and old cultures together so fricking well. The bodyguards in normal days, use guns or tazes but in Wakanda they used spears which are less advanced to gun but very good in combat. Unlike voting to decide a leader they battle each other and they don't use like battle ships they used traditional boats, traditional clothing. This is my opinion of course, black panther is probably the best movie with the combination of modern and tradition Edit: I also realised when black panther realised kinetic energy, it sound like almost he's purring. Is that just me?

@@DevinEMILE Tbf an isolation country in real life wouldn't have vibranium, the literal strongest metal in the world according to MCU canon. Vibranium is a huge part of Wakanda's tech and fast forward progression, and they're also self sufficient - they grow their own food, keep their own animals, use their environment the best they can (thatch huts, traditional stitched clothing etc.). It totally makes sense for Wakanda to be this way

Disagree on a point here. CinemaSins indeed does give movies a chance. The narrator OFTEN states he actually enjoyed the movie he is "sinning". Hell . They sinned THEMSELVES for "sinning" Jaws. They are just married to their format of calling sins in movies. Its a schtick.

Honouring the legacy of T'Challa and Chadwick Boseman and still continuing the story of Wakanda. I don't want the character of T'Challa be recast... Although they'll have to show him during in the next movie and pay a tribute to him. But here is my idea on how to progress with the storyline after that... There are two titles. King and black panther. The story can revolve around the throne being vacant for some time... Later being passed on to M'Baku... Who is shown to have MUCH more character depth than in the first part. The mantle of Black Panther though. That needs a test... To see who among the population is worthy... Emotional maturity, decent IQ and physicality - the point is sat first, he is only like the shadow of T'Challa. Cannot be as good as him. That man was a genius. But he later grows into it and develops enough street smarts with nobility to get proper respect even from initial detractors. And this black panther could eventually have a relationship with Storm. Shuri should not be Black Panther because the BP is very powerful and cannot afford to be impulsive. Similarly both Shuri and Nakia are busy with being the heads off the two wings of Wakanda's global outreach program. Infact, this movie can show when a new BP is selected, how his interaction with Shuri will contrast with the original. She'll be colder, not so open and maybe more bossy. And always a regret that the new guy is not as good as what T'Challa was... But as the new BP character learns the ropes and grows into the shoes and turns out doing something better, then she'll develop a proper respect. Maybe he'll also take the position of King later as even though M'Baku may do his job well, in his heart, he feels tired of facing the idiot leaders of the outside world and is tired of the throne and just staying there as his duty and moral obligation. Staying true in the spirit of his character... When he assesses the new BP and sees great qualities... He might just decide to retire. With a King's farewell and a nod to fans that he is always around - as strong as ever- when Wakanda is faced with a crisis. Scenes can include the new BP meeting T'Challa in the spirit realm. A final farewell to Chadwick Boseman Lot of political tensions with big countries influencing the UN to lay sanctions on Wakanda and putting false claims like Iraq. Which have to be dealt with a mix of diplomacy and targeting the right people through espionage. The countries have extensive lobbies behind them like mining, global companies like walmart, Amazon and Google and pharma industry for vibranium and an untapped market along with radical supremacist groups within foreign countries actively working to deny the existence of such a nation. This is the best movie to show passive racism on a large scale. A character can be introduced with a setup to the somewhere in the middle of the movie when the BP showing he's a good human being saves some people who are part of a politically driven corporate company who are into underwater mining or something like that from a collapse of their rig and adjacent exotic hotel. He comes with M'Baku to the place there for to reject an international treaty and when disaster strikes, the Wakandans save everyone .... post-credits... You know the person whose intentions got thwarted is Namor who wanted to target a lot of his enemies who were gathered in one circle and now because of what they've done, he has even more of a grudge against Wakanda.
