One of the best western starring Burt Lancaster besides Lawman (1971)

Lancaster was on a roll here with the Western genre that he obviously loved as he began the 1970s with a fine trilogy: first LAWMAN directed by Michael Winner, this one and ULZANA’S RAID from director Robert Aldrich. A few days ago another entertaining Western I watched with Lancaster called THE SCALPHUNTERS directed by Sydney Pollack, which predated Quentin Tarantino’s DJANGO UNCHAINED by over 40 years earlier with the subject of slavery and race relations.

Typical Hollywood revenge movie plot- Mild guy gets abused by gang of evil guys- turns out the mild guy is the toughest, smartest man that ever lived and he kicks their butts. Made for 12 year olds who dream of being the tough guy. They way over play Lancaster's part at the beginning to make his revenge so much better.
