Both are great companies and make great products. I use them for different things. Cinematic Studio Series is really great for loyalty discounts if you want to buy another of their library down the road

Cinematic Studio Series is my favorite, they are easy to work with, they blend nice together, the mic placements are easy to use for mixing with other libraries. The interface is easy to set up to make it super controllable with a custom keyswitch map. Every library basically has the same interface which is real nice to have. I am getting their Solo Strings next. Their pricing is really good too.

They were not easy for me for their Expression maps especially for Legato and Con Sordino...i still fighting to get the right sounds in Dorico and Studio One, it's a nightmare for me.

Great video, thanks for doing this comparison! Both developers are great, and I use a mix as well; Cinematic Strings 2 from the makers of the CS series still sounds and works well for me, Cinewinds Pro and VSL for woodwinds, Cinebrass, and a mix of developers for percussion but mostly East West, both their old EWQLSO and Hollywood percussion. My next purchase will likely be CSSS, but as you say, there are benefits to having options, so I'm hoping to complete my Cinesamples collection in the coming year. 🙂 Cheers!

Hi Chris, Thanks for making this video. I noticed that you were having pops-clicks when playing the CineStrings Legatos. I think it is their very old legato scripts that cause this, and overload the processor for some reason. They have announced a new version 2.0 of CineStrings Core, will be out since last year, but so far this hasn't happened. Maybe you can communicate with CineSamples and ask them about version 2.0 which also has a new much nicer GUI design. I stopped using CineStrings because of their unusable legatos. The Shorts are great, and nicely implemented via velocity switching. Thanks, Muziksculp

I hate how inconsistent Cinesamples articulation list is. Especially Strings Solo. There are a few articulations that you won't find in some patches and it's annoying. Only because of this I'd use CS Series more often. And CSW is probably as good or even better then Berlin Woodwinds.

CS soon hopefully will narrow the field with some long awaited updates. CW I like because you have control of Vibrato. Must be an LFO? Alto Flute a real highlight from here. CSS really gorgeous tone too. These are all really apples and oranges. Have them both. Sonore and Descant might be some of the best samples of all time.

It's a real vibrato and non-vibrato crossfade recording. I've checked the structure and it's complex and fascinating.

I generally prefer programmability and scripting over tone, so CSS wins for me across the board. :D

I use Cinesamples Solo Strings in Dorico or Sibelius with NotePerformer 4 NPPE . Even the piano from Cinematic Studio Series sounds good in NotePerformer 4. Last week I purchased the Cinematic Studio SoloStrings. I am curious how they work in the NP4 NPPE. It is the easiest way for me to make great orchestral Mockups. On the other side I use Cubase for real productions. Thank you for your video.

Cinewinds just destroys csw for me. csw just kinda sounds dead to me in comparison. I've fooled woodwind players with cinewinds.
