Hopefully in another 2-3 months I can start reducing my actual dental work schedule a little to work on all this more. So far I've barely scratched the surface of things. This industry is limitless and I dream of the day I can actually spend real time on it. Thank you for your support. It's immensely appreciated.

So I got to test my 3in today with and without ducts I designed. I see what you mean about weird behavior down hallways. Without ducts it just doesnt do it the weird yaw twitching that happens with ducts. I mainly wanted to see how it flew and what my throttle position was between the two. I was around 45% throttle to fly without ducts(heavish 3inch on 1306 4100kv 3s 18650). Going to ducts I added even more weight but throttle needed to fly wasnt much more. I am using 3in Avan tmount props and the ducts have maybe 1mm clearance from tip to duct inner surface. Definitely interesting doing a thrust test and feeling the thrust super focused in one direction with ducts as opposed to without ducts. But I think I am liking the flight and control of not using ducts.

Just designed and printed my own ducts for a build I have and I have a feeling it will take quite awhile to figure out which airfoil and angle of attack to use. At 13 hours per print to fit a set of ducts to the 3in drone I designed it will take a LONG time through trial and error. Not looking to sell or compete in the market. Simply want the knowledge and experience for being able to do it on my own from design to manufacture.
@Kabab
@Kabab 4 жыл бұрын
here's a secret I don't really share much. These are psudo ducts. A LOT of the performance comes from just separating the air above and below the prop. A cylinder duct is useless. It's gotta have some sort of funnel shape and I'm not convinced any degree of airfoil does a whole lot more once you get the funnel right. But I have not done the testing StanFPV has. He's worked really hard on these.
@dividingbyzerofpv6748
@dividingbyzerofpv6748 4 жыл бұрын
@@Kabab there are ao many air foils out there to try. If you set the air foil to a certain angle of attack you naturally get that funnel effect you are talking about where the top opening is wider than the bottom opening. I set my initital angle of attack to 5 degrees for the NACA air foil I used with a 28mm chord length. Gonna fly it very soon with and without ducts and see what my throttle percentage is between the two. I may try an air foil with like a 40mm chord length to see if I get more of the effect I am looking for or less. Random experimenting just to get the experience. I am all over the board from micro to macro to 7+ pound Xclass. Drone ADHD.

@luckymefpv
@luckymefpv 4 жыл бұрын
Well pretty much everything in the store is unique unless someone has already copied him.
@Kabab
@Kabab 4 жыл бұрын
The yaw wiggles will happen in a tight space when the thrust gets recirculated back into the ducts. Many people will see my work as unoriginal but what's different is that I'm actually doing a LOT of testing and research to come up with ways to do things better. So far I agree, the things I've presented are just optimizations of things that are already available even though they are genuinely unique. There are two motors in production right now that are completely different than any motor in the industry. Completely completely different. Before those two, there may be another half step motor for 5" that comes which again, will be an optimization albeit a pretty big one. None of this will happen unless FPVCycle continues to be supported by the community. So far it's been going pretty well but right now we're heavily in the red. Will need to wait to pull out of it before funding these new items. Making this new stuff is also incredibly risky. It costs a LOT to do and the risk of someone copying and undercutting overnight is extreme in this industry. It's entirely up to the community to make it happen. Throwing money at the trash littered across Banggood or supporting brands that just remake the same thing over and over hurts the industry more than anyone could imagine. It's why so so so many brands that were very innovative have left the industry. If you don't like what I'm trying to do, you don't have to support it at all...

Bob, I wanted to ask you about the cinewhoop. I have 2 a iflight green hornet for bigger camera and a cine8 for small places and litfting a peanut. The thing is that I burned a motor on the iflight. 1408. Now its quite hard to find them. Specially here in argentina and a replacement from china takes 2 months. The thing is I was looking for raplacsmets and i found motors of 2203 or 05 which had the same pattern 12x12. Much wider. In one of your vids I saw you built a cinewhoop with motors close to what I could find. But my worries are the size of the motor en relation of the prop. The thing is then I found a way to rewind the startor.. but then I thought it would be good to build a spare one better than the one I have. So I was thinking about a shen drone squirt. But then I saw your vid for the cinesplore and I was much impress by the size and type of motors you use. Could you pleas explain me a little about that size relation and what can i build with that. Which aio would be better and what range of motors would be mor suitable not only fpv cycle but other brands. What do you think about a similar setup but with 6S?
@Kabab
@Kabab 4 жыл бұрын
I think it's fine but also not really worth it. If you shrink the pack size and increase the volts to maintain the same weight you would have much less flight time. If you keep the capacity the same and increase tht weight you would have similar to less flight time as well. You may get some more power but the whole point here is to go slow, not fast. It doesn't really do fast no matter how much power you give it. On 4s it has plenty of power with little to no detectable sag at a 550g auw. To me, it's hard to justify 6s. Especially when the electionics are more expensive and more complicated.

An exclusive EU vender for fpv cycle would be nice. Shipping is just too darn expensive.

My cinewhoop has problems with bobbles and weird shakes when im trying to fly smooth
@Kabab
@Kabab 4 жыл бұрын
The only place I have issues with this when trying to fly smooth are indoors in tight walkways. The air recirculates and you get a lot of sliding around and yaw wiggles. You need to keep moving at a steady pace or just avoid walkways.

1500mah 4s vs 1100 vs 850?
@Kabab
@Kabab 4 жыл бұрын
850 isn't much better and less flight time. 1500 4s will give about a minute more flight but feels heavier in the air when flying. 1100mah is the happy medium point.

Can someone please help set up my self for some FPV. I tried to build my own quad, but failed, I have a Flysky i6, which I think is no longer in use. I am not looking for anything expensive ($200-300), this includes goggles, transmitter, quad and accessories. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated 😊 I don't mind if it is a whoop or a toothpick.
@Kabab
@Kabab 4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately for only $300 I would recommend staying away from the hobby or sticking to very small things like the Eachine EZ Pilot. Otherwise you're only gonna have very poor experiences and it will be frustrating and a waste of money. The cheapest and most effective way to start is to ONLY get a controller and play simulators for a few weeks. Then watch some videos and build your own. This is universally accepted at this point to be the most cost effective and fastest way to start. You have a controller, see if it works with a computer for simulators.

Are there any FPV combo's that are good? Even of they are more than $300. Sorry to bother you with these questions.😅

What's the deal with all the cinewhoops, I've never flown one, but at that weight I don't really want to, I guess I just want to see some new innovation with 5 inch.

@@stevenkelby2169 no doubt in my mind, I usually fly race setups, I built my first good freestyle glide, my God their so freakin heavy, like almost 200 grams more. I'm sure some 2407, or 2208 might feel a little better, but I don't think I'll ever like a heavy rig now, and the cinewhoops sound like their just begging for power.

we've got some very very real 5" innovation coming but it costs a lot to produce so we had to start with the smaller stuff and build up to the bigger stuff. There's one very different size and spec 5" motor in the works and two totally different motor techniques that don't even exist in this industry. All very risky to develop and manufacture but as long as FPVCycle keeps getting supported, it'll happen.

Can somebody explain me - Why You still need that stupid bulky GoPro thing in 2020 when there are 4k FPV cameras that are more capable and usable also in dark... gopro material in dark is mainly usless in my experience

Most people still don't want to mess with a finicky exploded gopro. The hero 8 and 9 have better quality too. Also, this general setup is really a different class. The whoops that carry the exploded gopros can't do too much....but that's fine since they're only intended for floating around. This cinewhoop is far more capable in flight performance. Improved performance makes it a whole lot easier to get the shot. There are also few places you end up flying the exploded gopro whoop that you can't use a larger whoop. Finally, the overall reliability of the craft that carries the exploded gopro is pretty poor by comparison. Overall, I love the exploded gopros and the small quads but I don't love the downsides that come with the gopro and the smaller craft. On an actual shoot, I cannot have issues with my equipment. This platform I've put together is a much better blend of reliability, usefulness, performance and improved image quality too.
I put some steel cable on a quad...
