Princesses are often associated with youthfulness as opposed to queens often being depicted as older (and of course Disney having a lot of evil queen characters). @CineWave Celestia and Luna are both Princesses, the only Queen was Queen Chrysalis, the Changeling. Also, it was unknown how Cadence became an Alicorn, we only see her as one and no explanation as to how it happened.

Depends: in the show its just in a nightmare sequence, with the implications being that if Celestia ever gave into darkness or bitterness Daybreaker is what she COULD become. But if you take the comics and tabletop RPG as canon, there does exist a parallel universe where Daybreaker is very real.
