We had home ec once a week - cleaning the house top to bottom! And cooking, cleaning up the kitchen was 6 days a week. Even when they weee 2-3 years old they can mix a salad with clean hands, fold their own socks & underwear & use a dust cloth. Remember to raise a productive self-sufficient adult 😉💛

Hi Jennifer, you do what is necessary for you and your family to be happy. I can't speak for anyone else but I will be here watching whatever content you create. I hope everyone else sticks around also. I have noticed that since you have made your channel more this is the video you want to make instead of this is the video you need to make you have been happier.

Patchwork Mysteries is a great series. There’s not a lot of romance, but there is mystery. They are about finding the origin story of old quilts that are found in interesting ways. It’s not yarns, but it’s still crafty! There’s also Annie’s Attic. I think they can be found at the library. Have you heard of twiddle muffs? I believe they were originally developed for Alzheimer’s/dementia patients. They’re like a little muff that these patients can put on their arms and they have buttons and do dads hanging off of them to give their hands something to do. I have also found in my special ed classroom that it works for some of my neurodivergent students. Last year I had a student who would pull on his clothes when stressed to the point where they were ripping at the seams. This family has had its many struggles and I knew that buying new clothes every week would be a challenge. So I crocheted him a twiddle muff, and it did help to where he was not damaging his clothes as much. It helped him feel less stress when he got in his own mind and stressed himself out. He moved onto the high school and I’ve had it sent over for him and as an eighth grade graduation gift I made one for him to keep it home.

Good job moving forward Jennifer. Self-care is always a priority because as a helper, you can’t help someone else if you’re not cared for first. I’m excited to see you spinning. After 40+ years I can tell you it is very relaxing and there’s so much cool stuff to learn.I crochet every day and yarn reviews are great for some but don’t put pressure on yourself. I love reading too. I actually went to a meet and greet at Boarders book store to meet Janet Evonovich. The number series are really fun read. I also like Debbie Macomber. I read a lot of historical romance books and romance that are fast reading books so once read I can forget about it. I also have read the Earth Children series. Great books. They made a horrible movie about the the first book. Clan of the cave bear. So if you watched the movie please do yourself a favor and read the books. They were top notch.

To Hear a Nightingale, The Nightingale Sings ( Both to do with Horses and relationships), The Breeders (Rescuing Dogs from fighting rings, abuse but also relationships), Love Song, The Business, Debutantes, and more. I am going to see if I can find the series about coming from Norway. Jenn - you could start a book club if you had the time. Lol. Always love to try a new recipe for Potato Salad. For whatever reason i dont understand, lock-down stole my joy of reading, going to church (my old one folded during lock-down), and going to the gym. I havent been able to motivate myself to re-invest. Then early this year, we lost a loved family member who chose a permanent fix to a temporary problem. Dealing with the fallout from that has been a rough go. Self- care is important, and im glad to hear you address what we often neglect.

Oh I love the same kinda books. Lynn Austin and Francis Rivers are also good authors. Good for you need to have time to do what makes you happy. I started crocheting because I said when I retire I am going to do that and realized that I don’t need to wait for that…I am glad that I decided to pickup a hook and found a passion and enjoyment in crocheting. Utube resources taught me about yarn and I am happy to say still fascinated about amigrumi. I do need to pull in reins with yarn purchases 😂 but finding what you enjoy just for you is awesome. I do have trouble making garments and blankets but I am still working on that every now and then for something different. Take care and enjoy what you do.

Hearing the books you read made me remember a book I finished a few months ago. Another youtuber suggested it. It's called The Lady's Mine. I can't remember the author at the moment but it was a very nice book. It's set in the west, after the gold rush. A CITY girl shows up in the town and sets everything on edge. I enjoyed it a lot. It is a love story, slightly religious and no smut. If you have access to a library you can get tons of books and it will come in handy for home schooling. But I get digital books from my library, right from my own home. Of save a book I find on the site and request it and go pick it up when it's ready.

I totally understand the needing to make self care a priority. I never realized that i always put myself on the back burner until after my ms diagnosis and was put out of work due to some of the worst symptoms and had way too much time on my hands. I to this day have a hard time putting myself first, but know that sometimes i have to. I live reading too, and am trying to make myself put my hook down for a little bit each evening and just power my brain down and relax. Look into the Sharyn McCrumb Ballad novel series. They have a historical/mystery/ghost story kind of twist. She lives in the mountains of Virginia and is an awesome novelist. I always look forward to her next book to come out.

My mom devours books now and goes to the library so regularly that the librarian gives her suggestions and occasionally will have piles ready for her to pick up when she goes in. She doesn’t like Harlequin romance books cause they have a bit too much in them for her, but she really likes Love Inspired novels. They are more romance without the smut, there are historical themed ones, westerns, mysteries. She also really likes ones that have Amish and Mennonite themes (they usually have recipes included😊). They are also light romance as well, so she can read them quickly.

I think you will be a great teacher Jen, I really do. I think the hardest part will not be the homeschooling but that Lucas will be with you all the time. So plan "Mom" time for your self care regimen. Which I think self care is an awesome thing. With the pace of the world these days, simple pleasures are leaking away. I am so interested in your potato salad recipe!! That was a good buy on the yarn and the project sounds interesting. I think I stopped reading about 10 years ago as well and I used to devour books my whole life. I went to audio books so I was able to do other things at the same time. I still enjoy being read to while crocheting lol But my mind lately has been slipping and my son said that I have to devote time to reading everyday as to build my mind muscles again. lol I also like Janet Evanovich (sp) I think in storage where 70% of my stuff lives, I have several of her books. Leave the doubt behind you because you can do this. And I hope that you and Lucas can have fun with it too. Much love! See you tomorrow!

Will definitely have to check it out later this week to see if they get more yarn. I am also planning on making a blanket with the Sesame Street characters. I used to read a lot. The past several years I mostly listen to audiobooks because I can get other things done while listening. Audible has hundreds of “free” books that you get with membership so it is well worth the price. I listen to cozy mysteries, you might enjoy that genre.

Whew! I was having trouble keeping up with your videos as well as the projects I wanted to do anyway. Finished the Tulip Cardi but still working on the Picots Bill top. Am grateful for anything you want to share, any time. Just a little heads up, I am a 3rd grade teacher and print my daily, weekly or monthly lesson plans and assignments on my tank printer that lasts and lasts and is easy (and cheap) to refill. Planners are usually daily, weekly and monthly pages with note pages to journal about how your day or lesson went. Although you might enjoy video journaling. Grades are just a matter of a spreadsheet and/or grid pages by subject even though some assignments can be graded for more than one subject...like writing a math story problem can be writing and math. I went through a scrapbook phase a few years ago and just do my own to save money now. Have a happy end of summer!

I hope you have a bit of time bc this is going to be a long one! As you were speaking of the O’go yarn I was thinking of things I thought you might be interested in. I saw a Mickey (Crochet crowd) vid where he was explaining the reasoning behind Yarnspirations bringing out the O’go yarn and it all made sense to me once it was explained. I wish you and Lucas all the biggest and best success with home schooling. It’s great! You have so many things on your plate now! Now for a bit of a background of why I’m taking your time: I’m 74 and hubs is 75 and still working part time to make ends meet. Both in our 2nd marriage since 1989. I started learning about ADHD around that time and self diagnosed my hubs bc he was such a clear and easy case after knowing what it was. A few years later the big lightbulb went off in my brain and I understood I was ADD too. Then for a time about 10 yrs ago we had a nephew of his’ living with us, a brilliant full grown ass man who studied electrical engineering at GA TECH and could not hold down jobs. In those 9 months I grew to know him very well and started recognizing the autism in him. I read everything I got my hands into for Asperger (a term no longer used) and Autism Spectrum Disorder. Started seeing my hubs in those descriptions too and I just knew. All this to say I highly suspected it of both. Then years later, thanks to the YT algorithm I found Mom on the Spectrum and Orion Kelly of That Autistic Guy channel on YT to name just two. I learned there is a correlation between ADHD and Autism, most ASD people have ADHD. And it is hereditary. Mom on the Spectrum recommended a Website called Embrace _ Autism which is dedicated site for various tests that are used by some professionals to diagnose autism and took them myself and 💥😳🫣🙄🤯💥 I’m autistic too! All this to say it explained my whole life and world. I highly recommend anyone who is ADHD to take the tests even if just for the big AHA! moment. Of course the self diagnosis will be met with some negativity or “no you don’t” from whoever you tell. But it is just as valid as a formal diagnosis. Formal diagnosis by a Neuro Psychologist can get expensive and take time, but is an important tool to get accommodation for children especially. I hope you take this in the spirit it was meant, not trying to meddle or sabotage but to help in what I can with what I know to be my experience. I said it was going to be a long one!

PS don’t buy books, get a library card and download them to your tablet. Hubs reads about one a week or more. And if the one you want is out, they have waiting lists like for the real books. ☺️ Do you know how much $ he’s saved by not buying them? Just don’t read to fall asleep like I do, or else you’re going to get smashed in the face with the tablet! 😅

My favorite author is Kathleen E Woodiwiss. She had some really good historical mystery, period romances, my favorite reading!! Unfortunately, she passed away, so she will write no more😢 I treasure the books i have of hers!

I wish my Daughter would consider homeschooling her children. At least the younger 2. I personally feel like they could benefit greatly. Ours start back on August 21st this year in lower Michigan. We are finally getting an Ollies store at the end of July where I live. I can hardly contain myself.😄

Hi Jen, I’m jealous, our Ollies have no yarn. 😢 You got some really nice stuff for teaching little man. You might want to look into a home school group. I have friends that home schooled and it was such a great support.

You brightened my day after spending today in hospital. If you want a nice book about something we all talk about “ a stash of one’s own “ by Clara Parkes is wonderful. She has compiled a selection of stories from people about their stash . You can get it in all formats

Debbie MaComber also wrote a non fiction book called Knit Together. I really enjoyed it and it helped me with some areas in my life. It would be a good selfcare book. I highly reccomend it.

Some countries call crocheting knitting. As per the terms double crochet and triple crocheting. Good for you to get you good health. If you're not in good health you are not going to be good for others. My mom and grandma taught me. God bless and I agree about crafting and reading.

I finally started knitting, bought me a 9"circular wooden needle and started a sock. I tried magic loop but the metal needles were too slick for my beginner level lol.
