I’m glad you featured Porto Venere. We were supposed to have a boat lunch tour to cinque terre but seas were too rough so they took us there instead. Actually felt like we lucked out because we wouldn’t have seen it otherwise. We were staying in cinque terre.

Love your video! We are planning our trip for June 2025 with hiking the blue trail as our top priority. But after watching the video, hiking to Porto Venere is a now just as important. Would you still suggest staying in Riomaggiore if wanting to hike the blue trial and hike to Porto Venere? How do you get back to Riomaggiore once you reached Porto Venere?

Thank you! That’s exciting! Thanks to the train, it’d be fine to stay in any of them, but I do think Riomaggiore is a great choice that will allow you to hike both ways, assuming trails are open. And from Porto Venere, I walked to the nearby bus station which took me to La Spezia and then the train back to Rio. Hope that helps!

I have a couple of questions.. So, 1. Which city is best to stay in if I have a family with 1 kid and am worried about carrying luggage after getting off the train? It sounds like Monteressso is the one, but can you confirm? 2. To take some of those pictures from the cliffside where the colored houses are in background, do I need the hiking pass? 3. Which city would still be the most stroller friendly ? I'm thinking I may not be able to cover all the cities and this may determine where I go 4. Do you have any information the ferries? would that be a better way to experience cinque de terre if i dont think i can carry my kid everywhere

by any chance if you have been to amalfi coast, would you suggest that I visit that instead? i feel that this may become a bit challenging to get the most out of this place

Thanks for the questions. Monterosso is your best bet for ease of getting around. You will have to skip Corniglia. Manarola’s train station is very well-connected and should be pretty stroller-friendly. You can get plenty of great photos and enjoy amazing views with the colorful buildings and the water WITHOUT a hiking pass. And we didn’t take the ferry at all, but this could be a great idea and you’ll just have to do some more research. Hope this helps! 😊

One of the most beautiful places on earth. Been there a few times. Unfortunately totally overcrowded, especially in summer.
