I notice my QC gets warm when running 2000mA. I was wondering you could utilize one of the other dc-7 outputs along with the cutouts on the DC-7 along with the crux to give you 2500mA? I know they say 2000mA is safe, but current fluctuates and I'd just like to see if it's possible to get a little more headroom.
@ciokspowersuppliesforeffec75332 жыл бұрын
Hi Ryan! Whether your QC gets warm or not has nothing to do with the type of power supply you are using to power it. The QC will draw the current it needs and if the power supply used is not powerful enough its voltage will drop and the QC will shut down due to a too low supply voltage. You will not gain any more headroom in any way by changing the type of the power supply used for the QC. The reason we chose to set the output power and current of the CRUX to 24W and corresponding current limits at 9 and 12V is that there are no 'devices' on the market of what we know that needs more power than these 24W. One of the most power hungry units out there is the QC where with 24W available in the CRUX there's plenty of headroom above the actual current draw of the QC. Best, Poul Ciok

Forgot to ask-What is the voltage set to on the Crux?
@GuitarStuffChannel6 ай бұрын
12v

Actually, the Line 6 HX Effects only requires the yellow cable and 2 outlets.

Great review! Would it power my Headrush Core with a positive center 12V 3.0A DC IN?
@GuitarStuffChannel5 ай бұрын
In theory it can't as the Crux does 2A at 12volts and the Headrush needs 3A, but it is very likely that it will as manufacturers often overstate power needs. You will need a positive/negative adapter. I would contact Cioks and ask them.

Well you didn’t say what the settings should be for the QC ? 9 or 12
@GuitarStuffChannel4 ай бұрын
The QC needs 12 volts

Very nice! i am buying this Crux because it fits my needs perfectly. Do you happen to know if this is the right dc cable for connecting my DC7 to this? (CIOKS DC LINK L24160) i need the long one which is 160cm. Thank you!
@GuitarStuffChannel2 жыл бұрын
99% sure it should be correct. Feel free to use my Thomann link above if you are buying your crux!

Will this CRUX work with the CIOKS SOL? Will the SOL power the HX Stomp? THANK YOU
@GuitarStuffChannel10 ай бұрын
The Crux will not work with the SOL. It needs a 24V output. I don't know about the SOL and the HX stomp, but probably yes.
@ronniemwagner10 ай бұрын
Thanks 🙏🏼 I figured that out finally when I saw the Crux has no 24V jack. I ordered the Sol.

Thanks for the review and I had a quick question. Would it work to go CIOKS DC7 to Strymon Ojai to the Crux? That would give me an additional 5 spots on the board. Thanks in advance!
@GuitarStuffChannel2 жыл бұрын
It seems unlikely. The Ojai power supply has 24 watts (24volts/1 amp) so that's 12 volts 2A - which is what the Crux would consume. So in theory it could power it, but then you couldn't power anything else.
@philh0954 Жыл бұрын
I just read on a forum that someone was successfully using a Cioks Crux with their Stryman Zuma to power the QC. I already have the Zuma so this would be a huge plus for me. Any thoughts?
@BCguitar75 Жыл бұрын
@@philh0954 I initially power the Zuma with the Cioks, and while it did work, it was also generating a high amount of heat. I ended up going another route.

Can the crux sufficiently power the Ampero ll Stomp? Thank You
@GuitarStuffChannel Жыл бұрын
Well the Stomp needs 9V at 800ma. So that is 7.2 watts. The Crux can do 12 volts at 2000ma - so that is 24 watts. So basically there is easily enough power.

2 Ampere Is barely sufficient to start the QC (recommended is 3A), so, saying it's "designed" for the QC it's quite unfair IMHO
@GuitarStuffChannel2 жыл бұрын
Actually, NeuralDSP have officially confirmed that 2A will do it on their forum. I think it is just that the standard power supply is 3A.
@marco_822 жыл бұрын
@@GuitarStuffChannel I've spoke with some ppl that knows the matter (electrically speaking). The 2A demands a more consumption of current in long sessions (you notice the QC becomes a lot warmer) and, the "ground noise" that a lot of ppl are complaining about the QC is mainly dued to an insufficient Ampere.
