I see a lot of support for Native Americans in the comment threads, and that makes my heart swell with joy, but I also see a lot of hate for people of other backgrounds. We're all human, so why are we the only creatures on this planet that openly discriminate against one another though we're of the same species? It's like cats not getting along with other cats just because their fur patterns or colors are different. I know that mine is probably an unpopular opinion, but my friends (who are native) say that people saying Natives should take their land back are forgetting that Native Americans never believed that land belonged to anyone. It is you who belongs to the land. When we die, we all end up as a part of the land. The only people we should hate are the people who poison the land in the name of money and power, as they are destroying our and our children's future. Please, end the pointless discrimination against one another for any purposes and enjoy the lovely music. Let's pray that all traditions, cultures and musics of all ethnicities live on, be it Slavic, Germanic, Native, African, or any other. Love from North Dakota to everyone.

Look at your name Chari, that name like Cher, Cheryl and Chicago are all female Cherokee names, were your family's members ever living in Great LAKES or the east coast of this land to Mississippi River. Giv removed natives from Mississippi River to Atlantic Ocean . in 1838 there were Bi RACIAL families could stay and and they did , there were many Cherokee Irish families, Cherokee had married and children with people from all over the world for over 1000 years , that is why Cherokee people DNA has gene markers from all over the world, many Cherokee children have yellow and orange hair when they are young under 6 years old and their hair darkens when they are physical grown their has turned black. Giv removed natives but gov did not remove native DNA from people, natives living on reservations know they have bi racial and multi racial relatives living as Americans and they consider them family. Connect Cherokee Nation in Oklahoma and let them got to know U and your history, Indian reservations are saver than Democratic USA cities are. Many Americans retire and move and die on native Indian reservations because there is respect for elders and laws to protect elders.

I always admired the Native Americans spiritual tie to nature. We belong to the Earth, it's where we return to when we die. Why major religions don't acknowledge this is beyond me. Well, you see, we as the center of the heart of the Creator, are a perfect marriage of the Mother Earth (body) and Father Sky (mind). All religions from what I can tell, teach this principle. In another time I was Native American and so was the man I am with. I was named Fall Like Feather and Geoff was named Run Like Water. Ever since I was a little girl I have had thoughts of Native Americans and loved nature, riding and being kind and I am very strong. I have gotten through a lot of hard times. I used to love playing the recorder also when I was an infant and have recently received a flute as a gift have picked it up naturally so I guess I used to play the flute in the other life. I do not like how we have to live today but I have done my best to be a good person through it. May the Native American beliefs always be passed on to next generations to keep some purity in this world.

I'm not native. But I am very impressed by culture and spirit. Our governments in Industrial countries destroy nature and living of native population. That' s a pity. Hope that native indians will get respect and country back which was stolen by the white men.

I think what the biggest problem is for most people is acceptance. Just accept that you are human And part of this earth That you are mortal and you belong to the land and not the land to you. May you find peace who reads this.

Native americans should be honored. They count. Im always sticking up for them. I ask native americans to practice their tradations and be proud. They walk in peace. My house will go to the native americans after i die. Just need to know how to do it.

Pick the tribe you are leaving it to and put it into a conservatorship under the tribe. An estate attorney can help. We have done that, all our land and home will go to the People when we pass.

First Nation People deserve respect and reverence. They love the land and the animals along with Mother Earth. Everyone could learn a great deal from all the Tribes and their way of life. They are Stewart's the land they should be looked up to and listened to for they know the truth of it. They lived in harmony before other people came.
