This is probably the most subdued arrangement that I've heard by Tommy & it's still really well done. Such a unique, beautiful voice no matter what he's doing. It's funny to realize that Dan Vasc's Sabaton covers introduced me to the band & also to Tommy. Such great talent. Even so, you do owe it to yourself to hear the original by Elton John, Hugo. The part in African when Simba is presented & all bow sends goosebumps from my head to my toes every time.😊

I agree about carrying down the things of our own childhoods, to our children, who then should carry them downward another step, etc., etc., etc. That is how true history (of any given situation) is learned. It's also what gets left OUT, these days, in our school systems--at least it has happened that way here in the U.S. When my mom was growing up, there were stories told and books read to her and her siblings, that provided histories from the countries from which her parents and THEIR parents had come from. Some of those stories were only told, from generation to generation, but many were written in the early children's books that were published back then. When Mom grew up, married, and began to have children, she brought along the books from her childhood AND the stories told by her parents. So did my dad. That gave my siblings and I (two boys & two girls) the history behind the Scotch-Irish peoples, the English peoples, the Germanic peoples (including the Poles, because my dad's mother and father were both Polish, plus when his dad died, his mother remarried--another Pole). The two lines of history there, were somewhat different, but both families had traveled to the U.S. as immigrants, and there were similarities, as well. Then they created their own history as mixed siblings were born, because the stories of their own (different) ancestors were passed down through tales straight from the mouths of the family members over the years. When Mom and Dad married, they put together THEIR very different upbringings and histories, and created a quite different setting for our growing family, especially because they moved us to Alaska, which became a brand new arm of the story, that is now told by myself and my siblings. Our children grew up with those values, which were still carrying down the stories my dad told us about being a soldier in World War 2, etc. My mom had helped with the war efforts, as well, as a radio operator. Those values stuck with us, and we endeavored to pass them on to our own children, but during the time THOSE children were growing up, the schools were actually beginning to "poo poo" some of the things my parents had known, understood, and passed on. Good family values, even when my own children were growing up, began to be laughed at. David and I ended up with six children all together, who came from our two similar, yet somewhat different, family scenarios, which then were being REALLY shattered by the school systems that were available as they grew. I can tell a HUGE difference from those experiences, even though both David and I have endeavored to be sure that our own children have known about the things of the past that really MATTERED -- from more than one viewpoint. By the time our youngest (the ours, of yours, mine, and ours -- Judi) came along, we had several divisions (and I mean disagreements about many principles) among her siblings, and most of that came from their public school experiences. So...I homeschooled Judi, because I finally got upset enough to not let those things happen to HER! We have taught her the correct histories, that really happened. What a difference it has made. She also, now, is passing down the same types of things (including some of the old, old histories that she has grown to know and understand, to her own children, who are always encouraged to share those stories and values with their own friends. In 2015, Judi and Harry decided that they didn't want THEIR children in the public school system any longer, either (even though South Dakota schools aren't nearly as bad as in most states). They are ALL homeschooled, now, from the oldest boy (who will turn 20 years old tomorrow) down through the youngest boy (who turned four on January 31, 2024) They are some of the best-educated and steady kids that I know. I'm very proud to be in a family who still believes in passing down the realities of life, correctly. I just wish every child was still getting those benefits. We wouldn't be having a lot of the problems that are "out there," worldwide, these days, if a lot of the older values hadn't been sloughed off (on purpose) by those teaching our children for years and years, now. The Circle of Life is VERY important. I, too, wish Disney and others had stuck with THAT line of story-telling, and not some of the other JUNK that they've been putting out in these later years (sigh). Not all of it is junk, but a lot of it is (sigh). Speaking of those things...another Dan Vasc video that would be GREAT for a reaction, is: "You'll Be In My Heart" - PHIL COLLINS cover [From Disney's TARZAN]. 😀 Thanks for this great reaction, Hugo.

The importance of passing down family history and values cannot be overstated, and it's inspiring to hear how your family has maintained these traditions despite the challenges posed by modern education systems. Your commitment to preserving and teaching these values to your children and grandchildren is commendable. Thanks again for your thoughtful comment and for being a part of this community. Your support means a lot!
