I find frog kicking less stressful on the body than flutter kicking. And since our local dives are all lakes, they’re all silty; flutter kicks make visibility poor so fast! I’ll definitely use some of the techniques you discuss to improve. Thanks for another great video.

The few times I do flutter kick are in strong currents, and surface swims.

Wow I didn’t know that you should still keep your legs extended during the glide portion and by doing that the fin tips won’t obstruct the residual push from the kick - thanks for that!
@CircleHScuba
@CircleHScuba 10 ай бұрын
That glide is sweeeeet. I’ll say in current and surge and such, like frog kicking in general, it’s not as doable of course. But otherwise it’s nice and holding that position is the end of the “thrust” so movement after just disrupts it.

Does the stiffness of the fin matter? Is it easier to frog kick with a stiff fin?
@CircleHScuba
@CircleHScuba 10 ай бұрын
Yes it is, and I very much should’ve said that. Split fins are virtually impossible to frog kick in for example

They have a purpose for mobility but yeah, hard / nearly impossible to frog kick with them

I’m super unflexible and find it difficult and comfortable to do this. Tight hip flexors and not flexible ankles. Is it OK to rotate my whole leg in order to get the thing vertical in the water when doing the clapping phase of the technique?
@CircleHScuba
@CircleHScuba 16 күн бұрын
It’s a little hard to picture this without seeing it. I think the answer would be maybe, and would be one of those “you’ll have to do some trial and error a bit” to see what works best for you. You said vertical though. Just wanna make sure we’re on the same page, you’re moving the fins outward so they’re more horizontal (tips facing out to the side), parallel with the bottom, not vertical (tips pointed up/down).

Is the frog kick similar to the kick we do while doing the breast stroke?

It’s like a breast stroke with your legs instead of arms. Same motion your arms do

Quick question, is it easier to frog kick with stiffer fins, e.g. Apeks RK3 or Scuba Pro Jet fins? I have the Mares Quattro + and don’t find it convient to frog kick in them as they are rather “soft” or flexible. Great video again BTW.
@CircleHScuba
@CircleHScuba 4 ай бұрын
Yes it is. While possible to frog kick with softer/flexible fins, it’s way more difficult and you get the propulsion you need.

@@CircleHScuba thanks 🙏 Do you use the RK3 HD or the RK3 “normal”. Have you tried the new RK4?
@CircleHScuba
@CircleHScuba 4 ай бұрын
@stephanwilliot2324 I personally have RK3 “normals” but I probably would’ve gotten the HDs if I tried them first, my shop didn’t happen to have them in stock haha. Normal ones do fine though. The RK4s aren’t out yet as far as I know and I don’t think are publicly available at all.

@@CircleHScuba Thanks for the feedback. I guess it would slightly change bouncy. The likely impact would be if you go from temperate or colder dives to tropical where you wear either no wetsuit or a very light one. Love your channel have learnt heaps.

There are a lot of silty bottoms where I frequently dive, including wrecks. If you don’t frog kick, you and your dive buddies are very quickly in a 0 visibility situation.

Hi bro. Nice video 👌🏻. I have a problem, my ankles are not to flexible and I don’t get de frog , moreover I use a Mares avantti 4 and I feel it to hard( I don’t have big legs muscles). So do u think that is a good idea change those fins maybe for smaller ones? Apeks Rk3 perhaps?, I don’t know. What do you recommend for me??? Thanks so much
@CircleHScuba
@CircleHScuba 7 ай бұрын
It may be the fins but it may just be a need to practice a bit. I’d have to see video of you trying or see you in person to try to help. I’d hate to say buy new fins when that may not be the problem. I use RK3s and love them, but that doesn’t mean you have to buy them too, you know what I mean?

I think you lose credit by using other channel's videos instead of making your own.. I see you write the source on the bottom of your video with very small text (sometimes not even that). I think more people would appreciate your videos if you made them yourself
@CircleHScuba
@CircleHScuba 8 ай бұрын
Really appreciate that feedback. The source is always there if it’s another channel. During the winter months it’s harder to get out and dive so it’s either source some footage with credit or not post anything on the channel. I’m not sure if using various examples makes the information less valuable, but I also agree that my hope is I can get to a point where nothing but my own original content is used for any and all b roll, where right now it’s about 75-80% my own content across all videos on my channel.
