I sold my MS a couple years ago because I didn’t know enough about synths. I watched this video back then and when the ‘nuts’ popped up I remembered lol. Great device. Just got mine delivered a few days ago and it is a big fun to use. Still need much to learn but just as normal... I think i’ll buy the original circuit too and hook them together. Then Mininova + bs2 can be used for the extra notes when the circuits are set... yummie.

Recently acquired a mono station , use it in conjunction with 3 circuits. Perfect for a live setup, love the C.V outputs. Routed the Moog Minitaur in the mono station input to layer both, sounds incredible.

Super dope overview. I've been trying to figure out differences between this and regular circuit and now I get it. I see it as a bass/mono synth with cool sequencer (not a groovebox).

Yeah, that's exactly right. Plug in a MIDI keyboard and it feels a lot more like a regular synth. It's basically an analogue monosynth with an amazing sequencer as a nice bonus. I think it didn't sell well because nobody knew what it really was or who it is for

It occurs to me that learning about the Mono Station is like learning about sex- we get a mish-mash of incomplete information from different sources. Some from parents, some from our peers, some from sex ed class, and also religion, media and personal experimentation. Surely the Mono Station cannot be so mysterious, uncomfortable, embarrassing, magical and powerful as all that. And now it's discontinued and new information is getting scarce. Time to RTFM I guess...

Nope. your best bet is to have it synced up to something that does or you can put down a simple single note on the 1-5-9 and 13 step to give you a simple metronome

Is it normal to "hear the lfo" in headphones with the volume knob turned all the way down..? I can hear a weak sound bias after a patch pad is pressed when volume is all the way down and i can also hear the lfo modulating this weak sound.. its kind of annoying but is it how it's supposed to be? Its just in some patches, some are quiet..

Originally i felt this way too, but after spending some time with it and really focusing on a specific sound rather than exploring i was able to get some useful basslines, drum sounds, leads, and ringmod tones to sample in other gear.

Can you explain the sequencer steps a little more? Each sequence is only 16 steps, correct? And you can chain sequences, with Osc 1 able to chain 16 patterns (so, 256 steps)?

You have it set up to receive midi information? When turning it on hold down shift and make sure all the LEDs along the bottom row of pads are turned on

@@RickyTinez I got the monostation and thanks for the reply...i am confused on one thing...every time i go from pattern to pattern i get a different sequence..that's cool but it's the same sound...if i go to patch,,,i get a different sound from patch to patch but same sequence...hmm...i am assuming i can create a pattern with a specific sound and save...then in my 2nd pattern i can do a different sequence and different sound and then save that..therefore each pattern is playing different sequence AND sound...it doesn't do something...can't see anything in the manual for that...can you help understand concept of this unit?

That's a great question. I'm not 100% sure. I do know that is does hit audio range and 1.6khz sounds about right.

It is a very high quality build. My guess is that it turned out a bit too expensive, and they can't turn a profit om them. The demand for this kind of machine isn't high enough to motivate manufacturing a second batch that has to be sold at the same high price.
