Circular Saw Jig for Wide Cut-outs

To help breaking out all the little pieces, i use a scrap piece of steel landscape edging (the extra thick commercial grade stuff) and slide it down in the first slot (which I always cut 2 blade widths wide to accept the steel). Then i use a mallet and hammer it in to the pieces and it seems to break them off pretty darn smooth and just leave a little to clean up with the chisel. Your method of planing with the circular saw, particularly with that added base is a genius idea though!
