Absolutely agree! There is a ton of work and practice in getting things right on that front. And it is difficult to get the right feedback too. Either people just dislike or like but hardly ever comments on quality and edit work... would appreciate any comments on that too! Just in case.... Fair winds! SY Independence!

Cell service in CR is kinda amazing... when I was trying to get lost on a motorcycle in the Northern part of the country and the remote parts of the Nicoya Peninsula I rarely dropped below 3 bars (4G LTE). By comparison when I was riding across the US on the TransAmerican Trail I went almost entire days with no service. Looking forward to seeing where you dropped the hook on your travels North. ...and yes I remember telling folks how the air smells of flowers!

Thats because the US has some poor internet service. They call 3 mbs here high speed. If your in a city its fine, or 1/2 mile off a highway, but anywhere else its spotty at best. A shame really.

When you're in a deep anchorage such as that you might want to try taking a stern line to shore. This will ensure that your anchor is set "uphill" and is very secure. You can also aligng your bow with any swell this way 😉

Hi Nike. Ordinary dish washing detergent sprayed neat onto the diesel will clean it up no probs, then rinse off with water.
@garycoleman8223
@garycoleman8223 6 жыл бұрын
a great way to clean up, but what you wash away only sinks to the bottom... it will not disperse. Left on the surface of the ocean stinks. but it will eventually evaporate

I have a question, my wife and I and our three kids (age 12, 14 & 16) are working on leaving the land and start cruising. My question is when cruising do you keep your cell phone carrier plan although it wouldn't work most of the places we would be or did you purchase sim cards for your phone at every location? How does that work, I would love to not have to pay the cell phone bill every month. Also if you could tell me how you check weather when you don't have Wi-Fi available? Enjoy watching your videos, keep up the good work! Thanks in advance for taking the time to answer my questions Kind regards Aaron

there is, yes, it is really amazing! If you don't want to be alone, you can choose your anchor bays according to that and will always find people to hang out with. Great fun video thanks. Wondering, when the depth stays deep up to the land and you wish to anchor, would a stern anchor in addition to the bow anchor allow you to safely anchor?
@WhiteSpotPirates

Gogs I try to make sure that I am still far enough away from the shallow that I can turn on my anchor 360. As long as I can do that, I prefer it that way since it just feels safer to be able to turn with the wind / into the wind. Ahoy, Nike

BirdDog Mason totally. I had a little one in there once but it fell off. But I just got some and will put them in there soon. It seems that the glue does not like the heat in there so much, though...so will have to think where to put them best

@willwheeler3991
@willwheeler3991 6 жыл бұрын
Terry, stern anchoring is not usually recommended, except in restricted spaces, due to wind shifts. Anchors hold better when the anchor and rode are aligned with the wind direction.

Over thirty years ago, I visited Golfito as Radio Officer on a Fyffes Banana boat. Looking at your footage it certainly has changed quite a bit. But one place that every traveler used to go to was "Tom's Island". This was not really an island at all, but part of the bay of Golfito. Old Tom was an American sailor who came in for repairs to his boat and never left. He seemed to have many wives and even more children around him and with only one leg was the modern day equivalent to "Long John Silver". Tom had a library of visitors books and it was a wonder to sit down with a few beers read all the comments from the many people that visited his place, bought beers off him and had one or more of Tom's famous burgers. I suppose his island is long gone now, but I look back on Golfito with good memories and much affection.

It should only rain on Mondays, Wednesdays, & Fridays between the hours of 10pm and 5am.. And sunshine and between 60&80 degrees the rest of the time in my perfect world and everybody loves each so much that they never do anything to hurt anyone or make them cry... That's the life I dream in my perfect world... BUT we don't live in a perfect world. So all I can do is my part by loving people and do unto others as I would have them do to me. And pray for all the others who live in this world around me... I would bet that being out on your sail boat for days on in from time to time out there with just God and yourself you can find calm and peace of mind... Always knowing that we each live in our personal little world where we can choose for the moment how our world should be... I get on my Can Am Spyder out on a lonely country road or out in the woods away from everyone Just me my bike and God to enjoy that special moment in life... Be blessed... BBE..

I support what you are doing 100% and I hope you continue doing it forever because it is the right thing to do. That said; How come you aren't back in Germany making brown babies with the new immigrants for Mother Mutti? Have you completely abandoned the future of the Fatherland? There are millions of brown-skinned fathers excitedly awaiting your return to Western Europe - in practically every venue - day and night. Have you no sense of commitment to your ancestry? Seriously, keep doing what you are doing because you don't need any part of that craziness that is going on back there. I'm just poking fun at you, and the absolute catastrophic impending collapse of the Western World, as we know it. When the $hit hits the fan, you will have already sailed away.
