Cirrus sells more planes than all others combined in each of their respective niches for the SR20 (trainer), SR22 (lower cost cross country), SR22T (mountain and full cross country flyer) and the SF50, VLJ jet. Why? Because they are high quality, backed by a strong company, first-rate training, safety, power, the best compromise of features and price.

Will that change with foreign ownership?

@@justinsk1 What foreign ownership. Cirrus is in Diluth, MN. Their airframes are molded in N. Dakota, their main manufacturing in Diluth, their training and delivery center in TN. Chinese investors own a majority of the company since 2011, but none of them work in the company.

@@speedomars3869 "Chinese investors own a majority of the company since 2011, but none of them work in the company." That's the definition of "foreign ownership."
@speedomars3869
@speedomars3869 2 жыл бұрын
@@airops423 In 2001, Cirrus sold a majority of the company to Bahrain-based Arcapita Group. Ten years later, the manufacturer was acquired by China Aviation Industry General Aircraft (CAIGA), which is a division of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) So what's your point? As I said, it's an investment only. The company is private. It has no Chinese involved at any level of the management or operation of the company. Nor does it have any Chinese nationals working on the manufacturing floor.

After you purchase the 22t at 800k here is a ruff break down down payment 200k 20yr loan est. yearly cost assuming that you fly about 15 hrs a month /180 hrs a year loan payment 63,600 hanger 5000, ins 1500 ,annual 6000, fuel cost 19,500,oil 400, general maint 4500 all in 2 fly 180 hrs a year 100,084.00 = 556.02 per hour roughly 8300 per month .And who said GA was not expensive.

Thanks for sharing! If you take your numbers and remove the load payment, which i don't include it works out to $206/hour @ 180 hours. I quoted $254/hour @ 100 hours and $188/hour @ 200 hours. We're pretty well exactly lined up

@@CompleteWalkaround yep, i own one my buddies all joke about the plastic airplane ,until they get in it g1000 ,ac chute i could go on . lastly i figure about 18gph at max cruise 7500 to 9000 agl 180knts approx.
@michaelmartin8331
@michaelmartin8331 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for posting but some of your information needs clarification. You should clarify on what model you are talking about and what year. A $350k SR22 does not have the same insurance rates as a new one (a 2022 SR22T will set you back over $1m and insurance for that is $8500). Hangar expenses can be as much as $1500 a month at premium locations and there is a multi year waiting list. Fuel burn for a SR22T is 18gph avg (37 gph on climb, 16.5 in cruise) , a 22 non turbo is 15 if flown lean of peak. Useful load on a 22T (G5 & G6) is 1100 lbs and 1200 for a non-turbo. I have a bunch of hours in both models and have one on order. Great planes

Is it legal to remove the chute, will it remain airworthy? Or will it FUBAR the W&B? At 1030 lbs useful load it's kinda like a C-172. Not a 4-seater with cargo space.

It's strange people compare this to a DA-62 which costs 50% more. Sure GPH might be similar but you're still paying to maintain double the engine.
@CompleteWalkaround
@CompleteWalkaround 2 жыл бұрын
You're right. I think the comparison happens because of the similarity is mission. Also, that these are both top of the line GA planes - single and twin. That includes Piper M350, which I think people rightfully rank lower than SR22 overall, even though M350 has more performance. Finally, wrt the difference in cost, I tend to think those of us who are lucky enough to be shopping for these sorts of planes aren't dwelling too too hard on the price :)

DA-40 and RV-10 seem to be better though. DA-40: same useful load, yes it's a bit slower, but also much cheaper per mile. RV-10 also cheaper per mile, I think similar speed. Neither have air conditioning though... I mean the RV-10 being experimental I guess you can put in whatever fits, but I highly doubt any builder did. Also neither have the chute which, but some $150k light-sports like the PiperSport and Sling-2 do have a chute without breaking the bank

Honestly I've never understood the success of the Cirrus. Someone please enlighten me. It isn't the best performing aircraft, burns too much fuel for its own good, and it's safety is overrated (not to mention price). If anyone of you owns one, change my mind

It's simple. If you want a fast modern looking plane built out of composites and it needs to come with one engine and four seats you have only one choice for under a million dollars. Unless you're willing to dabble with experimentals that is.
