Can we configure IPSEC with only DNA Essentials?

I want to buy Essential licence to use for Layer 2 switch ( C9200L-48P-4X-E) I was reading it doesn't support HSRP is that for Layer 3 interfaces or even at Layer 2 interfaces i won't be able to use HSRP to be able to bundle ports to connect to other switches?

HSRP / VRRP is L3 features to make a virtual IP between 2 devices. Creating port-channels/bonds of 2 or more interfaces is a L2 feature.

Cisco has always said it's a software company not a network OEM. I guess they are just living up to that with this new licensing system. It's going to take some time to adjust to this new system.

Desmond Eguakun that’s very true. An “issue” they have had in the past is that it’s very hard to get customer to upgrade lan switches in the rate Cisco would like 3-5years as the boxes (atleast the old once) works for 10years+ and honestly it hasn’t happened that much on smaller sites. You are often limited to the wan speed of an office so they point of having more then 100 or 1000mbit has been very low on majority of sites outside datacenters.

@@MagnusHolmberg-NetSec thats quite right. I know alot of sites that have had devices running for over 7+ years with only occasional fans or PSUs failing. This licensing model will earn Cisco more money anyways. Its a good thing the base services are perpetual, you'd basically pay more for what you really need.

Desmond Eguakun we are doing good, the whole company is required to work from home so unboxing videos will not come the next weeks. Haven’t got around to make any new videos yet but maybe that’s required to make stuff feels like normal again :) Service providers have a vital part within this to make sure that the communication is working correctly. Information between countries, governments and citizens is vital to get all this back on track. Am hope you doing fine as well, maybe learning new things on youtube is a great way to pass time :D

are you able to downgrade to network essentials from network advantage if you later realize you don't need network advantage?

Mannon Stewart the network advance and the network essentials are perpetual. Meaning they are forever. But the DNA licens is added on top as a subscription. You do not need to continue with the subscription after that one expire if you don’t need the functions :)
