Sophisticated malware will introduce random delays which cannot be predicted, to ensure they won't be tagged by the classifiers as malware. Agree with the point though that naive/unsophisticated malwares can be caught. Work needs to be done on this to ensure it detects sophisticated malwares.

Right, of course malware developers will always work to defeat specific defense mechanisms, however there is much more to evading this method of detection than just randomizing some timing. It is also using heuristics based on the "normal baseline" for the network and hosts being protected. It is also based on cross-referencing global events in real time.
