This is one of the best video i have seen which explains the new Cisco NAT polices. I really appreciate the effort that you have taken to give a clean explanation

Thanks for the explanation, but I have a question regarding last part why did you used static no dynamic ? I am a little mixing in between , is the static used if someone established a connection from the out side that no exist in the routing table ? or its applied for both direction and the dynamic only from inside to outside please someone clarify for me.

this is a very good instructional video for those like me who are new to the ASA. Can you please add the link for the ASA 8.3 command line configuration guide. Thanks

very helpful video. I have a question though. how do you do multiple ports for the same global ip to a single internal ip. this version is confusing me so much. pre 8.3 was a breeze.

On the example of converting the DMZserver, he says we can use global IP address 209.165.201.28. The diagram shows one external IP address 209.165.201.2/27. If the is only one line to the internet, can you use the .28 address?

It will always be difficult if all you do is memorize commands, it all makes sense if you understand how it works.

NAT translation is much more frustrating. I'm a little pissed they screwed with it. Before it was simple to understand.

the video is good but I still don't like this new NAT configuration.

"show run object" and "show run nat" combination is OK if you have just a couple of statements, but if there are 10's or hundreds of them it becomes a nightmare! shame on you cisco

The new NAT rules absolutely suck! Why take something that was easy and make if more complex? Ridiculous.
@camrober9 жыл бұрын
I agree. This new NAT method is counter-intuitive. The cisco developers must have been on some bad granola to produce this shite.

... its actually very straight forward if you've ever done any programming. you define an object which is an IP range, then perform an operation on that object I don't see what is so hard about any of that
