It's nice to have this tutorial and totally lame to know how few secure options we have to make this connection work. Also it's important to note for everyone that when you setup the connection to use PAP (unencrypted password), your credentials will be sent by an encrypted tunnel. I was very uncomfortable with this setting until I know how it work.
