Wikipedia is showing a different formula: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cisplatin It shows NH3 instead of where you have NH2

Amine is NH3 not NH2

+thomas wales Well it is not the amine group from organic chemistry. In this case here, amonia is a donor ligand, that is bound to platinum via its free electron pair forming an dative covalent bond. This is usually seen in complex chemistry of transition metals, while amine groups (NH2) are usually seen in organic chemistry. Notice, that the "chlorine ligands" are in fact chloride anions. They compensate for the positive charge of the platinium ion, making the whole complex neutral. In organic chemistry, chloride ions would be considered non bonding and rather inert.
