I used to own a cafe in the NWUK. Roy Barraclough was a regular. I was always itching to ask him what it was like to work with Les Dawson, but I figured he came to my cafe for breakfast, not to be interviewed by me. In the end, it was enough for me that a performer of his calibre frequented my establishment regularly. Apart from that, he was a very nice man and would always say hello.

I used to love watching and laughing at this with my Grandma on a Saturday night. Her house was my safe place as a young child and we’d watch it with a roaring coal fire and sucking on Refresher sweets. Watching Cissie and Ada now , I can smell that coal fire, taste those Refresher sweets and feel my Grandma stroking my hair as I sat on the floor in between her legs, and I’m 50 now. Thanks for the very happy memories ❤

Fantastic, well done for posting this. I think they were both equally good in these sketches. I am getting on a bit now and I know lots of people my age say it but, I do remember ladies when I was kid mouthing some words because they thought they were a bit naughty. Even my own Mother would mouth the word lavatory if we were in a busy place lol. Also, as someone else has commented, there are sketches here I have not seen before and I have seen a lot. How life has changed, we will never see comedy like this again, as Cissie and Ada would say "mores the pity".

Les Dawson was always a favourite in our house when I was a kid. My parents loved him. I remember watching him on TV and all of us rolling with laughter. He was a big risque and that's what made him funny. His habit of "silent speaking" when he was talking about something a bit "risky" reminded us of my grandmother who though somewhat refined like Cissy, insisted on only mouthing certain things especially in front of me when I was in the room. I still remember it all these years later with affection.

Well! I guess I was pig ignorant to have thought I’d seen all there was to see of Cissie & Ada! What a joy to have just watched all of this compilation, I’m sat her at home by myself and laughed out loud throughout the whole thing 😂. Les and Roy truly embodied their characters. I’m 44 so I guess I’m on the younger side of the Les Dawson fans out there, but the exchanges between the pair remind me of the conversations between my mum and her cousin that I used to overhear as a child and indeed as an adult. My mum, who was a a huge fan of Les has now passed, but I see my mums cousin quite often and her mannerisms and mouthing of unmentionable words always makes me smile. I’ve just subscribed to your channel as by looking at it it’s right up my street! Dawson, Grayson and the wonderful Williams!

I love Les's rubbery faces and subtle aside glances to camera. The BBC put them on Radio 2 on Sunday afternoons as a show called Listen to Les. It was the same material and it still worked because the comedy was as much audio as visual. That's one thing that oughtn't work so well on radio, but you'd feel it in the silences. You actually knew what he was doing. Your mind filled in the blanks perfectly. So it did work.
