in softer materials like sand, mud, swampy areas etc etc its better to have the weight spread out over a larger area with the tracks for less psi on the ground. I would imagine this machine is special built just for this purpose most likely (since the little blade on the rear). Even a 6 wheel ADT would probably get stuck in this (sand going into a river or water) for sure, unless it had the LGP (low ground pressure) tires and those still may even struggle! We run cat 740s and 745s and they get stuck quite a bit where we are currently working, Its wet sticky clay and it keeps our dozers busy just trying to keep em all going and places cleaned off for the hoe's to move to for digging.
