2 years on 10mg of Citalopram. It’s been positively life changing for me. I had such bad anxiety I couldn’t leave my house when I would I would have a panic attack, throw up, or my stomach would get upset and I’d have diarrhea. I was contemplating quitting my job I had been at for 3 years, was an absolute wreck. I’m was back to normal in about 2 months of starting, no longer get social anxiety, my PMS mood swings are no longer an issue. I can still feel sad, but only when warranted, not over small things. I also let small annoyances go instead of lingering on it and thinking about it for days.

@@markie1232 try it, just do the low dose 10mg, but just know the side effects will make you feel worse and more anxious initially as your body adjusts. Most side effects went away after a week or two, I started feeling great after 4-6 weeks. A lot of people that down the medicine and say it was awful, I’ll ask how long they were on it and they always say a few days to a week, I’m like well yeah it’s not truly effective for 4-6 weeks so you can’t really take their opinion too seriously. They are basing it off of side effects that are temporary.

@@hkluv333 just started on 10mg myself! And really needed to hear this so thank you, I’m very worried mainly about intimate side effects as I’m in a relationship, and there’s a lot of horror stories out there so to hear this from someone on it in the long term is insightful.

no I have never felt like a zombie on 10mg, as far as weight gain yes, but not a lot and not necessarily a bad thing. My anxiety would kill my appetite, I was getting very thin and some days I would only eat 2-3 granola bars. Now I’m able to eat normal meals. I’m still thin but healthy looking now

The only symptoms I got was decreased appetite, slight nausea and I felt very tired but that only lasted for about a week and the symptoms started to clear up, please don’t be put off by the side effects, I almost stopped taking citalopram after 2 days but I convinced myself to stick to them for atleast a month and honestly that was the best decision of my life, I can actually live my life normally now, my mindsets improved and I’m a lot more organised, my heads a lot more clearer and I feel so much happier, so even if you may feel bad for the next few days, you’re doing this to benefit your future self and you’ll be so grateful that you started them. I know starting new medication can be scary but your doctor wouldn’t of prescribed you them if they thought you’d have a bad reaction, also it’s really important to be patient with the meds, after about two weeks I felt better but I was still getting panic attacks, I only felt the full effects at about 6 weeks, but you might start to feel them at 4 weeks, you’ve got this Update: I’m now on 20mg

Ive been on it for like 6 weeks now and first I was getting upset stomach, loss of appetite but somehow gained like 10 pounds, sweating, heat flashes, nausea, light headed, photosensitivity and then headaches. Then I started having chest pains like heart burn and I would get these symptoms suddenly all at once while at work and would have to leave early. And then on top of all that my anxiety was peaked so I’d be anxious then have symptoms all day and be panicked by night thinking something’s wrong with me. I just kept going hoping the side effects would stop but they just kept getting worse so I’m weening off. I just wanted to leave this comment cause I don’t see anyone having the same problems ..

Wow, thank you for this video. I never realized the Importance of consistency. Im used to typical drugs that take effect after 30 minutes to an hour after ingestion. Being in my depressed state, I expected it to be a life changing experience after the first dose, and when it wasn’t. I was very discouraged, and sorta never gave them a chance. I then found out what a fool I was being, and gave them a second shot. Let me tell you. They aren’t gonna change your life. You aren’t gonna want to wake up and conquer the world everyday, but it is a tool. That can give you that little push. Sometimes that’s all you need. I have my bad days, but my life is looking up right now, and I’m a heck of a lot happier than I was six months ago. Don’t give up guys. I’m fighting just like you. We got this!

I was prescribed Citalopram 3 months ago. I’ve always been a bit stressy and suffer with anger etc. In the first week, I felt really tired in the afternoons, which I never did before. After the first week, I was ok. I find that I stir a lot more during the night, and if I wake up, my mind is going 100 mph thinking about all sorts of stuff, and it’s difficult to nod off again. Now, 3 months later, I’ve calmed down to the point that my best mate said he has never seen me so chilled in 20 yrs of knowing me. I have chronic farting now, lol……..overall, I’m glad I am taking Citalopram. It has helped me calm right down and it chills you out bigtime.

hey Erik, i’ve had 2 seperate cases of severe panic disorder for about 3 years on and off, i used to take lexapro on the smallest dose, 2.5mg and then 5mg and it really helped me overcome my disorder completely the first time (end of 2019 into 2020) but when i got panic disorder a second time (end of 2020) from smoking weed, I noticed not much of an impact on the same dose 2.5mg but i was told multiple times to up my dose for it and i was too scared to so i quit the medication cold turkey, and got insane migraines/headaches (thinking someting in my head was gonna pop it was so bad) as a withdrawal i think and for the past year I’ve been medicine free but I still get panic attacks everyday (heart races everyday nonstop, evil bad thoughts), and I’m ready to get back on something, my doc prescribed me celexa but I’m very unsure about trying it Bc I’ve been so used to take lexapro and I’m just wondering what ur opinion would be, thank u so much for the video also u rock!!

I’ve been taking Citalopram/Celexa for 4 months ish now. The worst side effects lasted around a month and I do feel like I think less negatively so it means that it is working. BUT one side effect that still is lasting and pretty severe is contant nausea, like a carsickness but without being in a car. It’s even worse when I actually ride in busses, cars or trains. I’m really sad because I do feel less negative but the nausea alone makes me wanna quit taking it, like I feel AWFUL. What should I do? Will it go away? I heard most side effects go away after a month which it has for most mine too but not nausea, 4 months in and still feel awful. I’ve tried ginger, peppermint, acupuncture, drinking more water etc but nothing really works. Please help me, what should I do?

Around 2 years ago I got into a bad habit of forgetting to take my daily 40mg citilopram. I ended up taking 2 or 3 a week, usually when I felt a tripping sensation. I'd take a tablet and feel better the next day. Then a year ago I started getting palpitations (rythem flutters), almost ten to twenty tines a day. I was worried I has a heart condition. I didn't know about this side effect, but it clearly makes sense. I'm going to get back into daily and in 6 months reduce to 20mg as a goal while working on my psnic attacks, fears and anxiety. I want to be meditation free. 😅

Like it took me forever to get on a decent antidepressant med. I settled on citalopram. But I only would take half the lowest prescribed dose once a day so about 5mg. It worked okay for the past few years, but my kidney labs are not as they were, so my doc recommend I stop taking citalopram. Its been about 2 weeks & I'm fine mentally, I think.lol. But I am starting to feel more physically unwell now. Like my body is in so much pain. Like tension pain in my muscles... Which I am assuming is from my GAD, which could be because obviously I stopped the citalopram that was helping w/ my GAD. Lol. Idk where I was going with all this info honestly. I am very sensitive to medications, even OTC, not allergic, I just seem to have a greater reaction to them. So I took my third dose last night, and I started to get very anxious after an hour. It was like all of the issues that cause my anxiety were happening at the same time. Fear of having a seizure, heart issues, breathing issues, kidney failure, etc etc, and an all-around feeling that something bad was going to happen. I had restless legs, some leg and arm weakness, nausea, insomnia, clammy and cold hands, and overthinking. So I didn't get much sleep. I've read over and over that symptoms may get worse at first, so I don't want to quit now. I take my pill at night because I'm too nervous that I will have a bad reaction during the day while im at work or out in public. Thinking of that alone makes me sweat. But I hope these initial side effects don't last longer than a few days, just horrible. I will update.

@@Jesus_Strong Hello! I can tell you that I havent experienced another episode like that one. Theres been a few times where I felt a bit anxious, but it was short lived. I took 5mg for 10 days and no side effects, no dry mouth, no feeling groggy ,or out of it. I decided to take the regular dose of 10mg, especially because im traveling abroad . Its already been 12 days and its had a better effect at controling my fears. I just feel chill, thats how I can describe my attitude. No intruding thoughts, no waking up with the fear of anticipating something bad. I think that any thoughts of anxiety are due to my own suggestive thinking. Like I knew what my triggers were so its hard to change my mindset, and in the end I dont have any episodes. I spoke to my doctor 2 days ago and he said it takes 6-8 weeks to see its full effect. Words cannot describe how relieved I am to have found something that has truly helped me! I think the best thing was for me to start off at such a low dose because it eased into my system. Im starting to enjoy being me again... Its a work in progress and Im loving it.

I'm 16 years old and bearly going to start taking this sort of medication for my severe anxiety, ptsd, and clinical depression...any tips or advice? EDIT: so I ended up having a really bad reaction to Celexa( in terms of nausea, headaches, etc) so I switched to zoloft. I take 1 zoloft in the morning with 2 buspirone pills and then one buspirone at night....I usually start my day at 7 so I wake up at 5 to quickly take my medication and go back to sleep then wake up and go about my day and take my 3rd pill at night, right before bed. This method has made taking medication way more easier for me as I'm not drugged out at school and unable to focus. As I sleep, I don't notice the side effects which take roughly 30 min to kick in so it's a method that works for me and can also work with celexa.

My doctor has me taking Celexa, he never has me in his office for more than 2 minutes & writes that I need to take four or five 30mg Celexas at a time. I told him that it causes a high pitched long screeching sound or a slow pulsing screech (gradually increasing to high pitch tones & repeats) that goes from 8 to 37+ hours, I rarely get any sleep in general (maybe at least 12 to 19 hours sleep through in a week's time) & mentioned various amounts of other side effects I get. I'm constantly drinking so much water that I'm bloated, I can't seem to make myself to eat anything no matter how hungry I actually am, only managing to consume one small meal through the entire day. Occasionally my hands get heavy trembling that makes my effected muscles ache for up to 5 days, mostly causing strain on the middle of my spine. My Doctor just mocked me saying that I should take seven or ten Celexa pills at once like some of his other patients do to sleep through the entire day to get past it. Which sounds far too dangerous, I don't even want to take anything he recommends to me any further seeing how careless my doctor is.
