It just means that you are chemical dependant in coping with life at the moment. Learning how not to be chemical dependant living life should be the ultimate goal, as I found to be the most liberating and ultimate healing process of my life! I feel young again and I live with my emotions, not under the guise that someone may not like my quirky behavior. Very liberating to be free of chemical dependency! I cannot begin to explain here. Anyways, how has your day been?!

How can I describe anxiety, it lives in my body, it creeps around my heart ❤️ and when a thought provokes it, I’m trapped. It rides on all of the nerves in my stomach and gets comfortable there. When it leaves the feeling is one of complete gratitude. If I could, I would teach my body to ignore it…but my brain doesn’t have the strength. People describe it as fear, but it’s more then that. Anxiety is a fire that takes more then huffing and puffing to blow it out! This is where chemistry comes into play. And it doesn’t always play fair. It brings you to the brink of relief, only to say…maybe tomorrow. And when quietly the formula finally works…you hardly notice. Because you have been waiting for such a long time, you can forget that, that fire can be be controlled and even extinguished. So now I’m waiting and praying that the formula comes together and does it’s job. 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

SSRI med has helped me cope with depression. I hate Big Pharma but need the med to get by. I always switch off when I hear some granola airhead telling me "all you need is exercise and a good diet". Usually, although not always, these types of people are "lifestyle depressives" who have never had clinical depression, which can be very debilitating. As goes without saying, each to their own, horses for course etc.

Don’t feel bad if you want to try a medication. Life is too short. You don’t have to tell anyone That’s your private affair People will always judge. Well not every person but in general . I view psychiatric medication like crack cocaine. Those meds are bad for you. Legal, yes, but just as bad. Evil pharma has its ways to keep meds with a high risk to reward ratio on the market by concealing side effects. They don't do long term studies on meds that are taken long term among other major red flags.

This is a supportive message with a dangerous meaning . If you do not have any physical causes of depression, like literal chemical imbalances.. then you should try therapy before taking meds, the human brain is not be fucked with.

That's a common occurrence with psychiatric medication. Horrible stuff created by evil pharmaceutical companies. The severe side effects are pushed under the rug by many healthcare professionals but these meds can really mess you up. If it doesn't get you in the beginning stages, it will get you during the withdrawal phase. Then there is the possibility of having to take it for life because the withdrawal is too much which is what the pharmaceutical industry wants.

Ed Rooney, Avoid benzos as they are habit forming. Try to stick to only one medicine of the lowest mg which is not habit forming. You son will benefit by doing some public speaking courses which builds new neurons in the brain. . To feel better reduce negative thoughts [overthinking]. Your breathing is closely related to the brain [mind] and gives good relief from stress-anxiety. To relax sit on a chair or lie down, neck straight, eyes closed and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 5-10-15 minutes or more. Don’t fight your thoughts. With daily practice the mind will relax. No deep breathing needed. Do the practice without any expectations when taking a walk, before sleep, in school, at work, when reading, etc. Like me, make this a lifetime daily habit to have a better life. Reduce negative social media, take morning sunlight walks and avoid constipation as it affects the mind instantly. Best wishes--Counsellor.

The only clinical treatment is therapy besides meds but really you gotta try your best to turn your life around. Therapy in my opinion only helps marginally. You have to gotta want to turn your life around and figure ways to get to where you want to be in your life. No one can do that for you including the professionals because only you care the most about your well being and your family and friends will be a close second not the professionals. Meds is beyond horrible. I don't recommend. Extreme side effects and dependency and they don't treat the underlying cause.

Appreciate you telling people that SSRIS will cause very uncomfortable withdrawal and that you have to taper, their thrown around like candy when there efficiency rate for most people is terrible, often docs will prescribe 3-5 different types of them because the first ones were causing more depression and anxiety, they have a black box warning just as benzos do but a worse one, an increase risk in suicide, they are not as safe as people want to believe

I've been on lexapro on and off for years, I truly believe anxiety and depression disorders are triggered from extended bouts of stress or traumatic events and your body gets depleted/fatigued from too much cortisol and inflammation then doesn't know how to recover and gets stuck in the flight or fight mode, a feedback of mental and physical fatigue I found that SSRIs give you that slight bit of repreive and relaxation or the feeling of I don't give a f"*& for a while do your body can reset and start to recover from all that stress and anxiety You can control 100% of what you think and do, it just doesn't affect you in the same way I've also tried to go off them cold Turkey and while I did do it by myself I seriously suggest you don't do it soo abruptly, I got headaches, tiredness, brain zaps, blurry eyes and more The brain zaps for me where like when your about to fall asleep but you sudden wake up and get a kind of shock

Lexapro like all SSRI's is a blood level medication, meaning you have to take it for awhile for it to reach a certain level in your blood. It also has a significant half life meaning it stays in your system for a long while. Unless your doses were 30 hours apart it’s very surprising your system would even notice a missed dose. Technically it’s still in your system and only starting to wear down so at about 30 hours your body starts to think you took a half does instead of a full one.

SSRI’s increase beta in the brain which makes anxiety worse. Medications that increase beta activity would make spindling beta worse. These include any medications that increase norepinephrine and dopamine. These brains are in need of GABA to calm the spindles. Medications that have been found effective with this pattern are those that increase GABA (Gabapentin), channel blockers (Clonidine and Intuniv) and anticonvulsants, including (Lamictal, Topamax, Depakote). Beta suppression directly in the center of the area of spindles responds well to neurofeedback and has shown good clinical response. This is especially true when the QEEG is used to identify the target location (center of the beta spindles) and the specific frequency band of the beta.

I had extreme dizziness, lightheadedness, eye strain, muscle twitching, nerve pain, akathisia, among other side effects that is too long to mention. I couldn't even sit down at the dinner table and enjoy a meal without feeling like I was going to pass out. I was bedridden. Horrible, horrible stuff. If you start and decide to stay on psychiatric medication, you have to be okay with the possibility that you will have to take it for life. Severe withdrawal is a big possibility the longer that you're on it because your it changes your body over time to the point where it can't function without it. I just want to spread the word to be careful. The decision to start meds should not be taken lightly.

Aslo wannan note: this depends highly on dosage and the SSRI. Some have worse W/D than others. Your doc definitely seemed to rush your taper (Docs normally do). To anyone worried about this, try and find the lowest dose that works for you. I'm at 5mg of Lexapro (Very low dose) and only experience mild W/D if I miss my meds for 1-2 days, but it's deifnetly noticeable. Another key point, made already by someone in this thread: Be willing to LONG taper off the med. Getting off faster does not equal faster recovery. MDs are very good at persribing meds, but unfortunately, sometimes arne't as careful stopping or tapering patients off of them.

The drug busparone I have been on it for over 10 years. It’s not an ssri and it’s non addictive. It really helped my anxiety way more then any ssri. Also take a beta blocker now they prevent palpitations and panic attack! Took me YEARS to find the right combo

@@woody6791 DUDE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If I saw this earlier I would have replied much faster!! Yes, I did, I am on them now. Feel free to skip the rant I’ll mark my journey of actually taking them with ******* markings. It has TRANSFORMED my life, I tried everything, I eat a very clean and routined diet, I only drink water, I work out daily, I have smoked weed on and off, I meditate, I see a therapist, I did a year of CBT - all of which ideas, hobbies and lifestyle changes are the routine prescription for anxiety, depression, OCD, Insomnia, etc… I do all those things and some other crazy shit just to stay/seem normal and can vouch for THEM they WILL HELP (especially combined together maybe not marijuana for everyone but the other stuff for sure) BUT for me (which I may remind you is 1:6ish billion people) all of those habits, and lifestyles never fully curbed the constant uneasiness, the odd illogical feelings and intrusive thoughts. My sis is an MD in Cananda and her opinion is biased. So taking her word is kind of difficult, especially when she told me a man in his 60’s refused them the entire time they have been available to him because he was nervous and when he took them, he told her he wish he did it YEARS ago Sounds like BULLSHIT to me Well as you can see my post was 8 months ago, I decided to take the leap. Started them 8 months ago. My life isn’t perfect and I would never expect it to be but my “anxiety, panic attacks, OCD and all the illogical thinking” that paralyzed me has gotten infinitely better. I am clear enough now to understand it was my demon that was stopping me from taking the medications, the problem itself had realized if it can control my fear about taking it I will never see the other side. ********************************************* HOW I STARTED I asked my dr for what my sister recommended. I would like to start an SSRI one of the reasons I’d like to start, is the fear of taking the medications is contributing to actually doing it. Could we pair it with 10mg Valium or 1-2 mg Ativan for 4-5 days the first week 3-4 days the second week and 1-2 the third weeks and 1 for the forth if you went that route. Both dr’s and a psychiatrist agreed it was a VERY reasonable request and prescription. ********************************************* MY DR’s Course of Action Step 1: Prescription: 50mg Sertraline daily Results: Onset of placebo euphoria for a week or two, I felt more invincible could be the Valium could be the placebo. Side Effects: None Personal Feeling: 8 weeks in felt fucking great. ********************************************* MY DR’s Course of Action Step 2: Prescription: 100mg Sertraline daily Results: Felt like I reached cruising altitude also still got the beautiful placebo euphoria, near the 5-6 week mark holes popped up stressed kicked in I slid off track a bit had a few panic attacks - Asked to go to 150 Side Effects: None Personal Feeling: 13 weeks in felt amazing afterwards it felt like I was creeping backwards but again lots of stress in that month ********************************************* MY DR’s Course of Action Step 3: Prescription: 150mg Sertraline daily Results: Felt like I reached cruising altitude again - Decided I feel so good I will go to 200mg next check in - had no fears of increasing once there plan to just cruise there until I can’t but in the mean time build an armoury of tools to equip myself to desensitize and recondition myself to maybe ween off the meds and still feel good Side Effects: Dick don’t work for 2 weeks, then dick don’t finish for the rest of time, wasn’t horrible but eventually you’d go raw and just shafe Personal Feeling: Feeling amazing, doing well , hoping the dick works again one day come on little guy you get so close. ********************************************* MY DR’s Course of Action Step 4: Prescription: 200mg Sertraline daily Results: Feel good, fucked up sleeping and insomnia but aside from that lol feel great NO anxiety, OCD is controlled, depression is significantly reduced if not Gone most days. Side Effects: Dick is back Personal Feeling: Feeling amazing, Glad dick rejoined the trio

To relax sit on a chair or lie down, neck straight, eyes closed and observe the sensations of your incoming--outgoing breath at the entrance of the nostrils for 5-10-15 minutes or more.
