I’m 70 years old and I’m not a pilot but I’d give anything to sit next to Max on this beautiful aircraft before I die!
@iZ3C0LD710 ай бұрын
Can agree. I'm not a pilot too, but being able to operate this aircraft in Microsoft Flight Simulator simply shows how beautiful this bird is, and how everything is easily displayed and done through the large touchscreens combined with incredible performance from the engines -- truly a supercar in the skies. And of course, Max's piloting and his energy.

What I really like about your video above was that in spite of your being a super-competent and skilled pilot you still have those checklists out. Bravo to you.
@bobby_D3 жыл бұрын
I agree he’s extremely competent and he’s a great pilot. I believe though that all pilots at any level would have the checklists out just because you can miss anything at any time because there’s so much to do. I think Max is an elite pilot and what you’re pointing out is one of the reasons he’s so good! I would feel super confident and comfortable as a passenger on any plane being flown by CitationMax!

I am a private pilot, strictly VFR. I fly everything from a J-3 cub to a Steen Skybolt to a Glasair. Even so I can only imagine having the skills you possess to fly that citation. You must have four or five processors running simultaneously in your head to handle the systems, fly the air[plane, respond to ATC, and chat to us during a white out snowstorm ILS approach, all while making it look easy and fun. Outstanding video.

There is no better example of "staying ahead of the aircraft" than when that airspeed is rapidly bleeding off starting around @22:18 when 35 degrees of flaps were dumped all while looking at the checklist and settings and hand flying at the same time (a little over 3 seconds and 8 knots were bled in that clip). Great job, great channel! Twenty years ago we did not have these types of aviation videos on KZbin!

Holds up 2 fingers, then holds a finger pointing up and spins it around: starting engine number 2. Same but only one finger for engine number 1. Ground crew repeats the gesture to confirm the pilot's intention to start each engine, then begins spinning their own finger when they confirm the turbine has begun to spin. After both engines are running and he has confirmed the relay is working and the plane is creating its own power, he makes a knife edge hand, cups the other one, connects the tip of the knife edge into the center of the cup and then breaks them apart to signal the ground crew to disconnect the ground power. Ground crew extends both arms, then bends the forearms up and down to indicate the pilot to move forward. Once the plane is far enough forward, the ground crew keeps their left (our right) arm extended and their right arm bent to indicate the pilot can turn right.

Man. that landing was as smooth as a banana daiquiri! And, in such challenging weather! So relaxing to watch. I guess that's just the natural outcome when skill, knowledge and confidence intersect. While I would imagine these videos are mostly watched by pilots, speaking as someone whose total piloting experience was taking off in a friend's little private plane once, I really appreciate it when you narrate what all you are doing and how you interact with traffic control. I like how you take so much of the mystery of what you are doing out of it. Instead of it taking away from the mystique, it just demonstrates how busy you are while flying and how much you have to know. Endlessly impressive. Thanks for letting us join you!
@ShadyS-20123 жыл бұрын
It absolutely amazes me how many tasks there are, all the time! I get that this is a short flight, but there just never seems to be a break to relax for a few seconds. I'm sure some of this becomes second nature, but I'm just blown away at how quickly he goes from one to the next. It reminds me a little of my sister in law commenting on my driving a standard, and how I wasn't paying attention, I was just doing it...she's obviously very easy to impress, and what I was doing, he's doing x 1000! lol
