Actually, the fact that bikes don't seem to be included I am cautiously hopeful about. If it is a DLC hopefully they can really get it right, with new roads with fully separated bike lanes, bike sharing, bike parking etc. Let's be honest there are going to be DLCs and this is how they and Paradox make their €£$ so if bikes are part of that so be it, as long as it's done right. I think they have something big planned for bikes including: different bikes models bike "parking", whether lots or just placeable bike racks bike "rental" spots (will they need a depot?) the ability to add bike lanes to pedestrian paths as well as regular roads (like we add other lanes to regular roads) which could lead to bike bridges! off-road bike paths (maybe!?) for nature preserve areas (going back to different bike models) bike racks on vehicles, so you can transport your bike to the specialized areas bike parks like skateboard parks in CS1 cargo bikes (more bike models!) tandem bikes (more bike models!) bike shops and repair shops for Commercial buildings All just a few possibilities for bikes in a future DLC (or free update). @BiffaPlaysCitisSkylines poke your CO friends and give them these ideas. :)

One big gameplay change is a limit to the number of vehicles that can be held in a depot. This means upgrading depot to hold more or building more depots. But more importantly it means really thinking about where those vehicles should be deployed. E.g. Fit number of buses to the demand. I also hope that the timescale will mean rush hours and quiet times overnight. Hope that business follow business hours, school follow school hours, no lessons overnight for example. This will then effect need for public transport at different times.

One of my favorite things about this game is one that they learned/listened to what we all wanted but more importantly is that they made buildings and systems (roads in particular) modular broken down which bodes much better for more cohesion with DLC. So like if we get an African in Miniature pack again they could integrate that in with the current buildings as addons or have a different base building style that could tack on the current addons plus they could easy add another flag to the network style section add African style networks or whatever. Also if a new mechanic or network type (seems they have most of the real world ish ones but let’s say like monorail or maglev or hyper loop) is added they it could be added as a module to all the current buildings along with the addition-only buildings instead of requiring full new hubs added for each pack.

Regarding windows/lights in buildings, when you look at the dark building on the left side of the road at 35:07, and keep looking at it while the camera moves forward, you can see that the "view of the room" changes as you move along. 25:20 The yellow car should have stopped at the red light in the median after completing its turn. This Junction is actually a tease for something that was difficult in vanilla CS1 when using one way roads to build wide boulevards. But have a look at the bus on the left. Not only is he sticking out into the junction behind him but there are also two cars that ignore the changing lights and block the junction. People are starting to cross as the yellow car is running the red light. That yellow van will become irritated if not being able to cross the junction and runs the risk of choosing to run it's red light after having missed the green phaze. I want to point out evidence seems to suggest a fair bit of TM:PE integrations. First of all the lights in the median are able to have a separate phase from the lights around the outside of the junction. That light that was turning red was green to accommodate cars turning left from where the yellow car had come. I expect the yellow van will be bothered it looks like it wants to go straight through however when the light for the yellow then turns green which is what happens next in the phase delay will also turn green for the motorbike and bus which will allow the cars blocking the junction behind the bus to clear it for the van to pass through. That's a pretty detailed timed traffic light going on there. It looks confusing because none of this was possible with vanilla CS1, we needed traffic manager for that. In VCS1 you'd just shut off the traffic light for the junction and hope everyone survives the kefuffle because the default unadjustable vanilla traffic lights in several situations could make things worse.

35:00 Actually those windows are clearly not just textures applied to the outside, look closely at the corner window of the building on the left. The perspective clearly changes, you get to see more of the left hand interior wall as the camera approaches and gives a better angle. Sure it's low poly, the furnishings are merely textures applied to the walls of the room to look like there is stuff lining the walls but it does have internal walls thus why the perspective shift changes what we can see. If it was just a flat texture on the outside it wouldn't be possible to see different parts of the room from different angles like that. You are right that the stuff in the room is entirely flat ie just textures but it seems to have different textures on each face of a box inside the window to sell the illusion even better by giving the internal space some actual depth for perspective to work with.
@fatemonkey Жыл бұрын
Not necessarily true. You can fake that parallax effect with fancy 3D graphics techniques.
@seraphina985 Жыл бұрын
@@fatemonkey Sure you can but doing that for every window would actually be more intensive than what it looks like which is that the "lit" windows appear to have the inside of a cuboid behind them with textures on the faces. 17:08 Yeah that is definitely the port for the blue water transit line we see earlier, we see that same bridge and the hospital next to it on the earlier shot. Heh just realised it is also the same one shown in the picture at 42:14 same second bridge in the background, same cityscape across the water, the intersection at the front is the same one too.

Great that you can add stops anywhere you please. Cool to see you can build buildings underneath bridges. the trains looked so good, the diesel and passenger were incredible. Overall all the transit vehicles look way more realistic.

I hope we have transfer stations where our citizens can transfer over from one form of transportation to another without having to leave the building.

The second building option after bus depot at 3:05 could be for intercity buses maybe??

I'm just at the section where you're talking about being able to move the tram stops so they're not bound to a segment, But one thing I think you missed is in that first shot, where they show the bus lines they have 3 bus stops placed right next to each other in a segment which tells me if you've got lots of bus stops on the road you can space them rather than having three lines jammed into one stop.

7:27 Just to add to many a comment. I assume its an Airplane routes. As they lift off (depart)/land on the tarmac (arrive) the lines branch into the sky. Planes are Purple. Also at 49:33 11:58 Cargo ships, can take 1K ton of cargo. So Cargo, is limited by weight, and transport options carrying limits.

Not really a big deal but it would be nice if airplanes dont start their takeoff/ landing before the runway is 100% clear from the previous departing/ landing aircraft.

if you look at the windows on the right at 34:50 you can actually see there is depth behind the windows

Wow, a whole lot more going on than ever before, Biffa, and they've got some mods included at the beginning, too! 😳

One of those lit rooms looked like it changed perspective internally as they zoomed towards it..... so... was it modeled internally?!
@JoeDecker Жыл бұрын
Sure looks that way...
@Sandriell Жыл бұрын
Saw that too. Looked like it had an internal space, but was still just flat textures- so just a box with textured walls. Simple but gives the illusion of interiors as long as you don't zoom too close.

They might have used interior cube mapping

i was going to mention that, it looked full 3d
@mpbMKE Жыл бұрын
That's a material mapping trick common in archiviz renders. It works at render time (similarly to normal mapping), creating a faux internal parallax.

Hi Biffa!!! I'm so happy to see modular additions to buildings, that was the only good thing about the abomination called SimCity (5 or 2013)...

The road wear from the car tires just bugs me. I hope there's a toggle to disable it, or someone creates a mod the first week to get rid of it. Some wear on the roads is fine, but the amount that is shown in the videos just bugs the heck out of me to where it's very distracting.

Yes, that jumped out right away to me. Looks tacky.

I like how it looks like you can actually modify the routes planes fly around the map. Would be nice to be able to in effect configure the STAR's and SID's for the airport to avoid the most densely populated areas as this is fairly common practice in real life. Makes things quieter for the voters on the ground so they whine less which tends to make local government happier. Even better hearing that we now get that sort of control over outside transit connections in general, this is how it should be as that is how it works in real life if you want a ferry with a completely separate city across the water that would be something your city was actively partnering with them to set up, and yes paying a share of the costs of operating also. With that of course comes the ability to have have that control over what routes those connections are allowed to take into and out of your cities are of control and what terminals they calls at and such.
